Pat Benetar thinks this is 'one of the worst movies ever made'

I was at the Rib-America Fest in St. Louis last night, and Pat Benetar was performing, and before she sang "Invincible", she told us that it was from "one of the worst movies ever made". Is it really? Haha.

if she said that to my face i would crack her skull open with a claw hammer.

There's a theory that Pat hates a couple of the producers.

I love Pat but she does come across as kind of a stick in the mud at times. It is a fun 80's film, not a masterpiece by any means but not the worst either. I think she likes to see her music as above all of that.

reply

Is it a great movie? Definitely not.

Is it an entertaining movie that fits well into its genre and era of its release? Most definitely.

I love Pat, but she should lighten up.

reply

To be fair, that's by 2007 standards. The last six years have given us a whole new metric of awful.

I think if you’re performing at a Rib Fest, you shouldn’t be so quick to judge. Also, were the ribs good?

reply

At the time this movie was released, it was a big box-office flop grossing $3 million.
Reviews were savage.
It since has retained a cult following, and now has a 40% fresh rating at Rotten Tomatoes.
To understand why Pat Benatar said what she said are those reasons.

I really enjoyed the film.. it’s a good watch. Probably better with a rib though.

She is wrong

The movie would have been better without that girl with the most annoying voice. She was the younger of the two sisters BJ took under her wing. At one point BJ bought maxi pads for her because she got her first period on the road. First? Was she supposed to be a young teen? She looked like a 40 year SNLer trying to play a kid. That character was so ah-noy-ing. Every now and then I see this film pop up on the channel menu and tune in for nostlagia… then that character shows up and I am reminded why this film is so very awful to watch.

But hey, Pat. Fair is fair and a royalty is a royalty. Maybe if Pat “peaked in the early ‘80s” Benetar had a few more songs in her then she wouldn’t be eternally linked with this film. As another BJ recently said, “them’s the breaks”.
