You fail to understand the distinction between *being* happy, and *acting* happy.

People *act* happy, when showing their true feelings will get them fired, beaten up, or killed. Asked anyone who's ever lived under severe racial oppression, or in a police state, or worked retail.

Nobody was whipping or pointing guns at the old black guy in this movie. He was a free, wise man who lived in a cabin, befriended two white kids, and taught them some lessons about life.

A nice cheerful.film..I believe that a lot more Uncle Remus stories should be turned into.Disney - like cartoons. Can anyone deny that Remus was a nice guy and worth listening to - from whom you might learn something?
How many films are entirely historically accurate? Not being a time travelling mind reader I'll stop there!
