Great choice. Rain's got that haunting harmonizing they do where they kinda sound, vocally, like a sitar. It combos slow rock with religious chant. Good song, and you're right, highly underrated. Probably overshadowed by Paperback Writer (which ain't no slouch, either).

It's hard to pick one for mine. I was going to go with The End, because it showcases the Beatles' guitar talents as soloists, but although it's not singled-out, it gets a lot of love lumped in with the Abbey Road "Medley" on side 2.

Hey, Bulldog is a great, underappreciated rocker, and Honey Pie is a nifty music hall throwback. Glass Onion gets overshadowed by fellow nonsense song I Am the Walrus, even though Onion has rippin' music.

But, ultimately, I'm going with Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Comedy songs don't usually find their way into the repertoires of "serious" bands, leaving Weird Al and his ilk to carry that weight alone. Although The Beatles were really clever wordplayers and often used wit, irony, and satire in their material, it's rare that they had something as infectious, goofy, absurd, and fun as Maxwell's Silver Hammer. Bonus points for the Edward Gorey-esque dark humour. Maxwell gets buried under more "serious" art, so I say let the hammer ring out!

Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.

Don’t know exactly why, but I love that tune. Maybe it’s the contrast between how it sounds all upbeat and cheerful, but the lyric content is dark as hell.

"Why Don't We Do It In the Road?"

Nah, just kidding. I've always liked "And Your Bird Can Sing."
