How long will he be King? (Any guesses?)

Assuming he doesn't abdicate and the monarchy remains, how long will he be on the throne? If we tally up the life span of his mother and father, and his grandfather and grandmother (on both sides), we get an average life span of 83 years. His grandfather King George VI died fairly young (56), as did his paternal grandfather Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark (62). The Queen Mother died at 101, Prince Philip at 99, and Queen Elizabeth at 96, while his maternal grandmother Princess Alice of Battenberg lived until 84. So, it's somewhat of a mixed bag, but the trend does seem to be towards longevity. So, it is more likely than not that Charles will live at least another ten years, perhaps considerably longer. This also means any heir could also be fairly old by the time they get the throne

reply

I'll say 20 years.

reply

He's 73 and apparently above average fit and healthy with an exceptional health care plan so it could well be 20+ years.

reply

I thought I had read that he has some ongoing health issues.

reply

I'm going to guess at less than 10 years.

I don't think he'll be a popular king, and even though he has the best medical care, I don't think he's in ideal health for his age. So I don't think he'll live to an incredible age, and I also think there's a reasonable chance he'll let William deal with all the shit at some point.

reply

I think there could be quite a lot of pressure on Charles to give his son William a large role even before he steps down, much as Elizabeth played a large role before taking the throne.

reply

Mid 80s I'd say. So 10 - 15 years.

reply

15-20 years

reply

I see him living to about 90, and I don't see him abdicating, so I'll say around 17 years.

reply

I'm guessing at least 20 years.

reply

at least 30 years.

reply

So you're guessing he'll live longer than his grandmother? (101)

reply

just wanted to be different...
