I had no idea he was "short"

well, not Mark Duhlberg Short but probably just barely reaching 5', 10" thus his reliance on 3" - 5" heel pumps so he doesn't look like a dwarf next to The Rock. I was browsing picks of him and his height changes relative to who he's standing next to, and it changes often. With women he stand just a couple inches taller but next to costars he looks oddly taller, but after you look at his footwear you can see that he alternates between Frankenboots to traditionally high-heeled dress shoes.

Hollywood can be excellent at hiding a man's true height.

The best movie that I've seen do this is a movie featuring the short Mel Gibson and the much taller Sigourney Weaver in The Year of Living Dangerously (1982).

You would never know the height difference watching this movie.

Robert Downey Jr is another Shorty who flies under the radar, but he's also proportionally smaller as a man, but when featured against a woman on screen it's easily remedied with heel pumps so it looks natural and unforced. Same with Tom Cruise but Tom's problem is that he's always playing a kickass dude so his size and height are always emphasized.

reply

Pretty much so, but there are some exceptions.

In the last M.I. movie (Fallout)Cruise's partner was Henry Cavill (Superman) who dwarfed him in several scenes.

I also found it refreshing that Downey wasn't all jacked up after his characters rescue in Avengers Endgame.

Well 5'10 isn't necessarily short, but your right that his height varies a bit in photos. For instance with Paul Walker who was 6'2, Diesel and him can look pretty much the same height, and other times Paul looked 2-3 inches taller. He actually didn't look that much shorter than the Rock who is actually 6'3 and not 6'5. In the recent movie he looks an inch shorter than 6'1 John Cena when they are face to face. Personally I think Diesel is about 5'11 barefoot

He's also black, which I had no clue. VD was complaining about oppression years ago and how hard it is for a black man in Hollywood while he was currently an A list star(not now of course). I still don't know if he is actually a black man or was bullshitting the camera.

reply

He's half black. His father's African American, his mother is White.

reply

Correct. Hell, I'm pretty sure the very first (short) film he ever acted/directed (the one who caught Spielberg's attention) was about being mixed in Hollywood.

reply

Yeah, it is funny how someone that is only half black will magically claim being black when it suits them and then claim being white at other times if they are light enough to get away with. I have no problem with someone that is half claiming to be either race, but for the love of god pick one race and stick with it instead of flip flopping based on the direction fo the wind.

President Obama identified as white while growing up. Makes sense as he was raised by his mother and grandmother, who were both white. When he hit college years he started to identify as African American.

reply

Just another spineless turd. When it suited his situation he changed race as quickly as a millennial changes gender.

I recently found our Peter Dinklage is also short. My life has been a lie!

funny Rock quote from BALLERS:

Q: "Are you Vin Diesel?"

A: "No. I'm taller, and better looking."

I've heard that IMDb supposedly billed his height as 6'4" (1.93m) back in the day. Although he was listed 6'1" (1.85m) in 2004, and archive.org has no earlier account, so it must have been before that if that's the case. He was upped to 6'2" (1.88m) in December 2004 and lowered to 6'1.5" (1.87m) in January 2005, then lowered to a 6' (1.83m) in April 2007.

The model Summer Altice claimed that Vin was 6'4". In actuality, Altice is 5'10" (1.78m) and close to Vin's real height.
