One of the greats. Alien is my favorite horror movie and he was brilliant in it.

RIP.

reply

:( rip.

reply

RIP, Sir Holm. I loved you in Alien and The Fifth Element.

reply

so sad when one of the great ones passes on he was brilliant in everything he did

reply

Superb actor... so many great performances but his magnificent work in The Sweet Hereafter is one I'll always cherish. R.I.P.

reply

Great performance in a great film, indeed.

reply

Incredible, they're dying in the same order than in Alien (John Hurt, Harry Dead Stanton and now Ian Holm!) Who's next?

RIP. :-(

reply

No, Ash "died" or was destroyed perhaps might be the better word, since has a robot, after Dallas (Tom Skerrit).

reply

Oh. Ok, I remembered incorrectly...

reply

Actually if you watch the director's cut Dallas was still alive after he was 'taken' by the alien. So pjj69 is somewhat correct in his strange observation. If it follows this pattern the actor who played Parker better watch out.

But anyway, shame about Ian Holm; he was one of my favorites; but at least he had a long a fulfilling life. may he now RIP.

interesting..

reply

That's true, in the director's cut. I wasn't even thinking of that one. I don't think that version is official, it's just an alternate version according to Scott, but it's true that we never see Dallas die in the original release either.

You got me there!

reply

I genuinely suspect Sigourney Weaver will be the last of the 'Alien' cast to pass away!

reply

That's a very unfortunate typo there, pjl69.

reply

Death is just another path.

reply

Very sad news; a very great loss.
