I never understood her appeal

Does she appeal to women? Because to me as a guy I have never found her to be great looking. I know that is my opinion, but her name would never come up when I was in junior high, and high school when guys around me would talk about celebrities they thought were hot. This was at the time she was the most popular too, in the early to mid 90's. I don't think her acting is anything special either, and she is supposedly a very self obsessed person in real life. So what exactly is her appeal?

I really liked her when she first started out (Steel Magnolias, Sleeping With the Enemy, Pretty Woman, Hook). She had a vulnerable, introverted quality to her performances. Her beauty was also delicate with the pale skin and thick, reddish hair. I now find her brash and overpowering in movies. She seems to play every role with a snarling , angry tone.

She was beautiful and charming on screen
If she entered the room every guy would quit doing whatever they were doing to check her out

Quite a beauty with a sweet laugh...
Nice figure too

I’ve never been a fan - I quite like a couple of her films, love none of them - but I do get her appeal. She has a slightly offbeat, quirky beauty and charm and a huge smile. She’s not an actress with a great deal of range, but she does have quite a distinctive personality.

I’ve found pretty much everything she’s been in to be descent to really good. She’s always compelling imo.

With a bag over her head and up to say 40 years she was tolerable.

She was never exactly some amazing beauty queen but she always had an approachable "every girl" on screen presence about her that appealed mostly to women but men as well and I'd also say she was still attractive enough to some appeal to male audiences on that basis.

As a woman, no, I can't say she appeals to me. I don't have any particularly strong feelings toward her, but I have at times puzzled at her fame. I recall Ethan Hawke once saying in an interview that she was naturally likable, so I think it's a case of having a winsome personality irl, which I don't find translates into the films I've seen her in.

Me neither. Face like a foot.
