can't he just retire already?

His recent films have all been bland, predictable Oscar bait projects that offer no particular insight into the human condition nor showcase any of his filmmaking prowess back when he had some. They are all flatly directed, boring films that Clint himself doesn't even seem that interested in as he sounds as though he could not care less when talking about them during interviews. Other than to continue winning Oscars and stroke about his ego, there honestly doesn't seem to be any reason as to why he's still making movies right now.

What a stupid reply in more ways than one

How so? I know you're not the brightest poster, after all, on another thread you said Eastwood had served in Korea, but now you're actually trying to say that wealthy people are never interested or motivated to make more money?

Are you serious? For some people there's never enough. That's a fact.

reply

What are you, his social worker?

The Bradley cooper Iraq war movie was amazing and will be watched in a 100 years. What have you done?

reply

I think Clint is a great director, but doubt that movie will be remembered in a hundred years.

reply

I remember being sprawled out on the floor in front of our black and white tv as a kid, watching him as Rowdy Yates in Rawhide. And I've followed every decade of his phenomenal career ever since then. He's a true American icon!
What's your contribution, pissant?

THIS POST WORKS FOR ME.🍆💧

reply

Glad it does. You're doing the hownos thing, digging up some old shit, and it's amusing to me.

reply

Would that be the hownos you now suck up to like a hungry critter looking for company?
You are a bust dummy, you picked the wrong one.

Judging people like this is very classist way to see the world. So, you therefore either must have done something amazing and lucrative that brought you fame in your life, or you are pandering to those who have, or have stolen from others to convince us that they have ... either way, this discounts your entire view of the world.

reply

Just don't watch them. Problem solved.

Sheesh.

As for Oscars, he can kiss that goodbye. Hollywood will never give him another Oscar, even if he directed a masterpiece.

reply

I know the OP is long gone but someone should tell him to give up something he loves doing.

Clint may be breaking new ground. I don't know if there's ever been another 91-year-old actor-director in the history of the medium. Even Kurosawa--who didn't act--stopped when he was 83. Whatever the case, I don't even want Clint to retire. If he dies on the set one of these days while directing a scene and that's how he wants to go, I hope that's how he goes. And I hope he's far enough along that the movie can then be released.

Eastwood had a few good movies, Gran Torino, Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter; some stinkers like Heartbreak Ridge, and a lot of middling stuff.

reply

Heartbreak Ridge was a great movie on team building. Hardly a stinker.

reply

The military stuff is nonsensical bordering on comical, it's really not a very good movie.

reply

Already heard your opinion, you are over the line in terms of boorishness to then come back and declare it a not very good movie. Most of Eastwood's other movies are not good. This is a good movie because the military stuff doesn't matter, it's a story of building a team and moral.

Like the movie "12 O'Clock High" was shown to officers in the military about burnout and team-building and morale also. Heartbreak Ridge was not as good as 12OH, but there are damn few movies that deal with anything along these lines, so it rates in my book. This is my opinion explained, as your declarations are just your opinion.

reply

Already heard your opinion.

reply

Not my opinion, them's were the fact maam.

reply

Clint has been in or made a lot of movies, and only a small handful are really worth watching. I've always been partial to "White Hunter, Black Heart", "Heartbreak Ridge", "The Unforgiven" as my favorites, although I think he also directed "Richard Jewel" which was a really great and memorable movie. So, same with Woody Allen, not everything they do is going to be brilliant, but also it is not related to age or retirement status.
