Once again, he will single-handedly…

…save the movie theaters.

I’m really rather worried about what will happen once TC hangs it up.

reply

Is that an important mission?
Who gives a shit?
It's a structure as worthy as a scriptorium. Probably much less.
And their pop corn is good only for cancer.

reply

Well, I guess for people who don’t like to go out and be social, have an experience with other people, make an evening and an event out of it…streaming is just one more excuse not to leave the house.

It’s probably part of the reason people are turning pastey and thin and geeky, with zero ability to be patient or civil in public. And no social skills.

Work from home. Watch church from home. Watch first run movies from home. Shop from home. Online convenience is turning people into creepy, anti-social little moles and shut-ins.

well said

I love to go out and be social.
What do movie theatres have to do with that?
Sitting together quietly inside a dark room, if anything, is exactly the opposite.
Talk about turning pastey and thin and geeky, with zero ability to be patient or civil in public. And no social skills....

reply

Agreed.

reply

Either way movie theaters are the relics of the past, streaming is the future.

The funny thing is that we are going back to the old days when movie studios also own the distribution networks (streaming).

reply

They have always been in the distribution too.
1 - in USA they had shares and/or masked their way into the theatre chains to circumvent the "law"
2 - the world is not the USA

reply

Drive-in theaters should make a comeback. I loved those.

reply

We still have one but its terrible. Due to the artificial light its impossible to see whats going on while watching the movie. The screen is made of metal panels and they have all warped due to the sun and heat. Its literally pointless watching a movie there now.

reply

That's a pity.

reply

Tom Cruise is a true movie star. The fact that he performs his own stunts is just a bonus.

reply

Yes. He’s the last of his kind. And once he’s retired, wokeness will have completely taken over films.

reply

Wokeness is dying. The reason why no one goes to see films anymore is because of the woke agenda. Who wants to see a movie that panders to a measly 4% of the population. It's why disney is headed towards bankruptcy.

reply

The reason wokeness is not dying out is because the new guard is rolling into the executive level, decision making positions in Hollywood, as the old guard is dying off or retiring.

More and more women, minorities and LBGBQ+ are sliding into decision making roles in the production companies (which is fine and well, BTW). But many seem to have an ax to grind, and are deciding there is very little place or room for white males in leading roles anymore (unless they are getting their asses kicked by women). I understand the need to move the pendulum more toward the center, but it seems like the agenda is to slam it, and hard, all the way over to the other side.

They are hemorrhaging money. There is only so long that these stupid evil corporations can keep doing this before they end up going broke.
