He complains about them but there are so many Terminator films that I've lost count. And now he's shooting four Avatar sequels. I'd rather watch any Marvel movie over even another minute of CGI Pocahontas in Space.
He's right, but probably not the best one to say it. As the previous poster pointed out, Avatar did no favours for the future of cinema, unless you count the resurrection of 3D. The same format which ruined the re-release of T2 last year and to think it bombed. Wonder why? Revisionism? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. The mans an incredible talent, wish he'd do another good sci-fi film unrelated to Avatar or The Terminator.
However I wouldn't read that article, The Express is just a clickbait website.
The 3D T2 release was amazing. It was like seeing the movie brand new again, and I've seen it a million times since I saw it in the theater as a teenager.
How did it ruin anything? If it wasn't for the 3D version, there wouldn't have been a re-release.
Seriously.
It's not for everyone, the movie is fantastic enough on its own it didn't need the revisionism, I kept wanting to take off the glasses and watch the film as it was originally intended. The worst offence was how the 4K Blu-ray suffered through extreme use of digital noise reduction marring the image quality due to the 3D conversion.
shareWow He da man!
I hadnt really considered who was my favourite director , but now its him . no question
Finally someone speaks out against this plague of infantile superhoes that have ravaged cinema for the last 20 years.
Could not agree more. "F*** those superheroes , F**** them in their stupid asses" to quote Bluntman & Chronic.
Plus he made T2 and Aliens - the only good sequels ever made, not to mention The Abyss
Built his own sub and went to the bottom of the pacific too i think.
What a guy!
"Plus he made T2 and Aliens - the only good sequels ever made"
Hmmm... Even though I agree these are great sequels, this statement is totally exaggerated and inaccurate... And I'm generally not a fan of sequels.
Just to name a few awesome sequels:
All the Mad Max sequels
Rocky Balboa
Indiana Jones 2 and 3
Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi
Back to the Future 2 and 3
The Dark Knight
Home Alone 2
Ghostbusters 2
Police Academy 2 and 3
American Pie 2 and 3
Godfather Part 2
Fair point! those are all good examples. I havent seen American pie sequels but the first one set the bar pretty low.
Perhaps i should have said "Sequels that were better" , although many people including myself would say those 2 sequels were so different to their parents that you cant even compare them.
maybe "Sequels that built on the original, took a new direction, and were as awesome!"
Also The Good the Bad and the Ugly, Spider-Man 2, X-Men 2, Scream 2
shareAgree 100%
shareLOL! Pot, meet kettle.
shareHe may have said this after Infinity War, but he had to say it before Endgame due to the timing.
Endgame literally addresses everything he says. It's a two-part movie like Kill Bill was, the first half is blinding buildup and the second half become a smoother consequence of everything.
I bet he realized Endgame is different.
He is right and wrong.
He's right because he is right but he's wrong because it seems he didn't see, at least, Endgame.
This was before Endgame, so he might have realized he just wasn't being patient.
Yet he congratulated Endgame when it beat Avatar.
He was even attached to the first Spiderman film for years.
He's tired of superhero films yet he won't actually try to change things by actually making films when he is one of the few directors around today who actually has the power and capacity to make self authored, big budget movies. Christopher Nolan just gets on with it. Cameron will simply bang on about the 50 Avatar sequels he's threatening us with. Sequels to a film which features just as much CGI overload as the average superhero film but with worse writing.
This guy is crazy and you guys are fools for going into his garbage.
