Well, if you follow various 'history' accounts on social media she gets posted about all the time.
shareI still hear plenty about her, but then I seek out the sort of people who talk about old movies.
I also hear people talk about her all the time.
shareShe remained in the tabloids for decades after her death. No more.
shareI think you're wrong - but admittedly that may be the bubble I live in.
shareShe’s posted all over the world and has plenty of fans. Why I dont know? I think she is overhyped and her personal life was tragic.
shareThat’s like saying the Mona Lisa does not fit with our times, OP. We are awash in ignorance. Fewer people may have learned about MM (or Mozart, or Toylstoy, or Checkov or H.L. Mencken) than before; but those who know about MM (and those others) never forget her. Legends don’t die.
Oh, uh, Wolfe? “Overhyped” is a redundancy, like “overburned.”
There are degrees of hype, and degrees of burn. "Downton Abbey" has been hyped, but not to an annoying degree--just a bit. "Joker" has been hyped so much that I'm sick of hearing about it. That's overhyped. A steak can be burned a little and be delicious, or it can be burned so badly it becomes inedible. That's overburned.
shareNo one likes Popeye anymore either.
