I still hear plenty about her, but then I seek out the sort of people who talk about old movies.

I also hear people talk about her all the time.

That’s like saying the Mona Lisa does not fit with our times, OP. We are awash in ignorance. Fewer people may have learned about MM (or Mozart, or Toylstoy, or Checkov or H.L. Mencken) than before; but those who know about MM (and those others) never forget her. Legends don’t die.
