shareA little. My building has a small fitness center. I'm 65 and have not been able to lose some belly fat. I guess I would have to go on a diet that I just wouldn't be able to comply with. My experience is that diet is much more key to weight loss than exercise. And don't misunderstand, I am by no means a huge over-eater.
At my age I use lighter weights, I don't want to injure my joints. I do a two-day alternate regime, 1. Chest/Triceps/Shoulders 2. Back/Biceps. I go two to four days a week, but it's not uncommon for me to go 10 days without (lazy). The only cardio I do is long walks and also walking on the gym's treadmill. I don't run.
I certainly won't get ripped with this regime (as I said i have stubborn belly fat), but it is better than nothing. And exercise is good for you psychologically as well as physically.

THIS IS VERY TRUE...AND SOMETHING I NEED TO SERIOUSLY CONSIDER.
I've been a member of LA fitness for about 15 years, So I only pay $21 a month. They never seem to raise my rate. If you're going to try it get into the classes. It's the way to stay motivated. They have yoga, weight training, cycling, zumba, aqua aerobics. I try to mix up my classes so I don't get bored.
shareTHAT IS GOOD ADVICE...MOTIVATION IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE.
shareNope. I purchased my own equipment which is expensive but a better deal than a membership at a gym. I started with Calisthenics equipment and added weight lifting. Craigslist (or FB Market place) are a good place to start.

Looks like youโre pretty well

SHIT...YOU GOT ALL THE SWOLE TOOLS...YOU SHOULD REALLY LIVE NEXT DOOR....THEN I COULD MOOCH OFF YOUR BOD SHOP.
I HAVE SOME PARTS AND PIECES...NO CAGE THOUGH...THAT IS A NEW ONE ON ME.
I get a half price membership for the rec centres in my city through work. I mostly just use the pools, but I do take the occasional class here and there. I also do a fitness class once a week with my mom. :)
shareMAYBE ALI AND I SHOULD TAKE A CLASS.๐ค
shareThat could be fun. There are so many different classes to take. You two should do like a dance fitness class. And take video...๐คกโค๏ธโค๏ธ
shareOH...I'M SURE ALI WOULD RECORD ME WHETHER I WANTED HER TO OR NOT.
shareI'm sure she would too. I hope she would share it with us.
shareISN'T IT NICE KNOWING I'M NOT A WEIRDO WITH AN IMAGINARY DAUGHTER?๐
shareWell, to be fair you could just be a ventriloquist who has trained his cats to blow bubbles?
shareFrom 15 to 37, I worked out 4-12 hours a day, 6 days a week, in pro training facilities. It was great.
Now I'm a fat shit. It's hard to get motivated when you know you peaked at 37.
But to answer your question, I don't go to the gym. Commercial big-box gyms aren't for me. When I do workout I train at home or outdoors. I don't do either enough and need to hop to it.
TOO BAD WE DON'T LIVE A BIT CLOSER...WE COULD HIT THE WEIGHTS TOGTHER....I WOULD CALL YOU ALL KINDS OF FAT GUY NAMES FOR MOTIVATION...IT WOULD BE BITCHIN.๐
shareYou look pretty buff to me. At least from the neck up.
Signed, million man
Not anymore. Used to have a small gym at my old job that I used everyday. Now I have accumulated quite a few weights and equipment at home, I pretty much just do free weights. Have a nice squat rack, bench, DB set (though would like to get some heavier), door pullup bar, and a set of bands. Love lifting weights, but also love booze and excess eating so stay quite plump. I feel like having a home gym just saves me so much time and money in the long run. However, if I didn't have it, I would get a gym membership. I really struggle if I go longer than 2 days without working out. Plus I would be like 400 lbs if I didn't workout.
shareYes, the tennis club opposite has great facilities and is only 100yds door to door.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday - upper body
Tuesday, Thursday - legs and cardio
Saturday, Sunday - exercise bike at home
If I didnโt do this Iโd look like Jabba The Hut.
I workout at the Gym daily at a place called "X-IST Fit" and I find it to be incredibly helpful and beneficial, especially around the time of the "Jab" and how more people who didn't exercise were more prone to coming down with it than with people who exercised and eat right.. I'm 58 and only have myself and my brother and sister and that's it.. My brother is having major heart surgery on the 28th of this month and while we haven't really gotten along in the past, I do hope genuinely he's going to be Ok and come through this.. Either way, join the Gym. It can only help you in the long run
