Did we really have that much to fear from Covid?

Did or do the masks really do any good?

It was found out that it was not transmitted by touching after all.

Was the freaking out so bad worth it or did we freak out over nothing?

reply

THIS FEELS ENGINEERED TO TURN POLITICAL....DO BETTER.

reply

Asking a medical question is political?
Since when?

Back onto ignore you go.

reply

A MEDICAL QUESTION ABOUT THE HANDLING OF A VIRUS THAT BECAME AND MAINTAINS BEING OVERLY POLITICAL.

reply

It did ☹️

reply

Hm... What if covid is actually transmitted via freaking out?

reply

Just wear a mask and stay at least 6 ft away from me if you are going to do that.
Thanx.

reply

I am not accustomed to all measures of the imperial system. What is 6 ft in parsecs?

reply

Do you see the moon?
Yeah, that distance will do.

reply

Here's my take on it.

Did it turn out to be as bad as thought? No. But a ton of people did die from it. Do I think that we learned anything from it? No.

I mean there were people in 1917 who disregarded public safety in the name of personal freedom too, so I think that if something comes along that will wipe out a lot of the population, it will do so effectively as society will not protect itself. This is world wide, not political or aiming at any one in particular, I just don't think we will stand a chance.

reply

There are 12 million people who would probably say so if they were still alive.

reply

Well, that's the thing isn't it?

How did they still manage to get it and die even with all this major freak out about it?
Perhaps those who got it and died were just too vulnerable and would died have anyway.

Darwin awards for all of those who scoffed at and ignored the precautions.

reply

This should probably be in politics.

I do see people still wearing cloth or surgical masks at times. I'm tempted to point out if they are wearing it because of Covid, we were told about a year ago by the respectable agencies and scientists that we need at least an N95 or better mask to make a difference.

I don't say anything though. I don't think they'd appreciate it, anyway.

reply

This is a question on health.

If I had brought up in the OP Trump's lame response and botched job of it or pointed out how the numbers that died were higher in the same time period with Biden then it would belong in Politics.

reply

Your reply kind of proves the point that it was bound to get political, even if the OP wasn't. LOL.

I'm kind of "a plague on both your houses" when it comes to the two major political parties at this point, so whatever.

reply

I agree with your second sentence.

No!! Once you brought Trump into and Biden, you made it about Politics.. Please stop acting naive over this and post this in the Politics Forum

reply

By now, I believe that most people around the world have contracted COVID at least once or twice. Many have lost their lives or have relatives who succumbed to the virus. From your own personal experience, did it fell like nothing to you? For me, it was life-threatening and warranted taking precautions.

COVID is not the first epidemic. I’ve been wearing a mask in public for many years now. It provides a level of protection against airborne diseases and air pollution. If you live in a modern industrial city with a dense population, some form of filtration is essential - either a mask or your own nostril and lung. I understand that there are exceptions, such as chain-smokers who inexplicably outlive non-smokers, but that doesn’t mean we should deem warning about the risks associated with smoking as "freaking out over nothing", right?

reply

I'm not vaccinated and have never contracted it and I've been tested in front of my Supervisor just out of courtesy to my co-workers on my part for not buying into this shit to begin with and was negative.. How do you explain this?? Biden said if you didn't take the "Jab", you were certain to catch this?? Biden bragged about taking one booster after another and STILL came down with it

reply

"No!! Once you brought Trump into and Biden, you made it about Politics.. Please stop acting naive over this and post this in the Politics Forum"

Sound familiar?

Signed, million man.

reply

It (like every other cold) isn’t going to be transmitted just through touch. It isn’t going to go through the skin on your hand. But if you do touch a surface that the virus is on and then rub your nose then it will be transmitted.

reply

The whole thing was blown out of proportion and used to steal an election and when we look back on it, it was nothing worse than the common cold & flu, right down to the symptoms side by side excluding respiratory, but back in the day, it was a chest cold and you took Robitussin and it eventually worked it's way out and please?? Spare me the supposed Millions of lives we were told that were lost due to this because just because the CDC & Biden say so?? Doesn't make it so.. If you question this?? You're deemed a threat to Democracy and all of this other bullshit.. Put even simpler: If Hillary would've won in 2016, we wouldn't have heard 1 word over this..

And why are you posting this here in the General Discussion Forum when you know it's impossible not to bring Politics into it??

reply

Yes, because the effect that it had on the rest of the world, all the people who died, the lockdowns, the supply chain issues, and inflation because of that, was all just to steal an American election. Okay.

reply

Yes, it was, but unfortunately for the Left, the American people have saw right through this and are determined not to allow the Left to manipulate another election in their favor

reply

Uh huh. Sure.

reply

Yeah, Uh huh sure.. It's true.. The whole thing was a WASH from Day 1 and like I said, if Hillary would've won on 2016, you wouldn't have heard one word about this.. The master plan was supposed to be 8 years of Obama, 8 years of Hillary and 8 years of Biden and when Trump threw a monkey wrench in on this, they lost their minds over it

reply

Again, there is a whole wide world outside of the US who were effected by Covid.

reply

Uh huh.. Yeah

reply

Are you saying the rest of the planet was in on the Covid conspiracy to sway an election in the US? Is this what you believe? Lol

reply

What I'm saying is everyone was duped over this, for something no worse than the common cold for Christ Sake and all to sway an election, YES

reply

I don't know anyone who has died from the common cold. But I do know people who died of Covid.

reply

https://theconversation.com/can-you-die-from-a-common-cold-126241

"The common cold is normally a mild illness that resolves without treatment in a few days. And because of its mild nature, most cases are self-diagnosed. However, infection with rhinovirus or one of the other viruses responsible for common cold symptoms can be serious in some people. Complications from a cold can cause serious illnesses and, yes, even death – particularly in people who have a weak immune system"

So despite being Rare, YES, you can die from the common cold

reply

Yeah, like I said I don't know anyone who has died. I never said no one ever did. About 200 people die from the cold each year compared to up to 50,000 from the flu (depending on the year) Not millions like the first strain of Covid.

reply

Who said Millions died from Covid?? Prove it?? And if you so much as Question any of this?? You're a threat to Democracy.. Not buying it

reply

Just because you don't trust your government, it doesn't mean that there is a world wide conspiracy happening. I don't have a liberal government where I live, but I do trust the nurses in my family. There have been over 5000 Covid deaths in my province since the start of Covid. That might not seem like much to you, but I believe that number. They also report Flu death numbers which is an average about 100 per year since so that's a lot more people who die of Covid than the flu.

Now was Covid as deadly as they thought it was going to be? No. I never said that. But I did say in another comment that what we can learn from this, and the 1917 influenza pandemic, is that society won't protect itself and that if something really deadly comes along we are screwed.
