I know, it sounds silly. But with all the problems in the world, sometimes I'd rather be in the comfort of my home to avoid the outside world. In my home I can pretend problems don't exist through things like video games and virtual worlds (although I admit that is limited by the fact the Internet exists to remind you of those problems.)
I'm not sure where you live or what kind of area it is, but I quite literally live in my entire neighborhood. Meaning that everything is within walking distance for me: markets, coffee shops, a great diner—all the good stuff. Going out and about is one of the most relaxing and stress-free experiences possible. I make it a point to do it every day and not be trapped inside 24/7.
My point is that I think you might be approaching this the wrong way. As nyctc7 mentioned above, being out and about is far more enjoyable than doom-scrolling on social media or being bombarded with clickbait news headlines. Even if you live in a rural or suburban area, I believe you'll feel better about the world and yourself if you get out more often. It doesn't have to be a big event—just running errands and such. I hope I'm explaining this correctly, lol.
You also make good points and I agree with you. Perhaps I really should go out more often.

shareI actually do go out to do my job and do errands and such. I just don't go out as much compared to most other people. I'm a tutor (currently working at a learning center for high school students).

I tutored after my other jobs about 25 years ago for extra money, it was good work and even back then I was earning fair pay, I think it was like 24 bucks an hour for tutoring back then...I'm talking the early 90s so that was a good side-side gig!
Tutoring was nice, easy money, it probably pays a LOT more now..

Yes, I used to mow grass, do house painting, pumped gas and did oil changes and raked yards during my high school and college courses and I took on tutoring troubled kids in the late afternoons to make even more money...I know i talk real plain but I did earn three college degrees so I may be stupid but I sure can fake smart

Brother, it's 11am Saturday here and I worked all week, drove 600 miles and heard a thousand stories...There's nothing wrong with giving yourself an easy day to do some laundry, cook a nice meal, shovel the snow and watch a few stupid movies. People can be very annoying and being alone is great.
