I recently watched a brief bio on legendary sheriff Buford Pusser https://moviechat.org/tt0070895/Walking-Tall. He was 6'6"+ and prior to law enforcement, was a professional wrestler known as Buford the Bull. He actually wrestled a grizzly bear once and won! Not only is that impressive, it's downright mind boggling.😱😁

I'm in Kansas and a longtime Chiefs fan. This news just totally saddened and sickened me when I encountered it. The latest I heard was that 11 victims were children! I watched parts of that parade this morning on several local channels. Those people were so joyous. I'm heartbroken.

I'm heartbroken too. I'm not a fan, but people go to a parade to celebrate, and be joyous. I just don't get it. I feel sorry for anyone who is a victim in an event like this, but when it's children....man. It just sucks so much worse.

Nope, guns aren't as prevalent in Canada, but they still are an issue. I just don't think that a man murdering his family will ever get the same amount of news coverage as a parade shooting. I think the last mass shooting in Canada was in November of last year and that did get a lot of press coverage.

There have been 44 mass shootings in the USA since the new year and that's the fewest since 2020. Canada doesn't have anywhere near that amount of mass shootings.

Missouri has 6,1 million people and has experienced a minimum of 83 mass shootings in the last 10 years according to GVP. The source I found stops in 2019, so there are probably many more.

Every European country with a population between 5 to 7 million has had either 0 or 1 mass shooting in the last 10 years as far I can tell.
This is an American problem in the Western world.

Of 51 European countries, only 6 have this number of inhabitants.
Bulgaria, Denmark, Slovakia, Finland, Norway, Ireland.
Within the last 10 years Missouri had 5 mass shootings according to Wikipedia.

Perhaps we now need to define more precisely what a "mass shooting" is.
Given the numerous mass shootings in Europe this isn't purely an "American problem in the Western world" though.

I didn't use Wikipedia as it is very random which cases they put on pages for Mass shootings in -country or state-
The Interstate 68 shooting, is the only shooting they included in Missouri where multiple people got hit, but nobody died. I suspect this because it was aimed at a tour bus with at least one "celebrity" as there are many cases like this.

I still would say this is an American problem in the Western world, sure it happens elsewhere, but we don't call every bad thing that ever happens a problem in the area just because it has happened before. Burglary is not a problem where I grew up, in fact, I've never even heard of a burglary there. But the moment I hear about one, I'm not going to say that there is a burglary problem in my town.

As for celebrations like this, thank goodness it wasn't in Ohio or Pennsylvania. They tend to burn and riot when they win and when they lose.
