I'm very involved in my own children's education and I know their teachers well. Their teachers are really good, decent people. I work with young teen kids, I know a bit about it.

There doesn't seem to be any 'indoctrination' going on Blue 1981, I would know if there was. There has been more of an awareness introduced in schools about anti-bullying and lesbian and gay rights and getting along in a community and anti racism type stuff which seems pretty reasonable to me. These kids nowadays are a bit soft and lazy but I've noticed the bullying and bigotry has become less prominent. I'd say that's progress, we just have to toughen the little ones up for adulthood now. There is less bigotry but also an alarming lack of strength and determination.

Certain jobs are crucial to society. Teachers, Nurses, Firefighters, The Military and Police deserve respect, they are the pillars that hold up a community.
Try and start a functioning, prosperous country without our essential workers.

Also, not for nothing but the next person that says to a kid 'What, you wanna grow up to be a garbage man!?!' deserves a knock to the nose. Sanitation is super important and garbage men around here earn a damn fine living.
I know a few garbage/sanitation men and they have nice houses and have made fine families.

I respect anybody that goes out there and earns an honest living.

I did play with barbies a bit, but I also played with GI Joes. All my friends had brothers, mostly we played with Tonka Trucks, skipping ropes, even lawn darts. If we played pretend, it was usually brain surgeon, or teacher. Having full sized chalk boards in the basement was a lot of "pretend school".

I grew up then too, and ALL the little neighborhood girls - ALL of them - played with dolls, and also wanted to play "house" with me.

I feel tom boy is a broad term. i knew girls that did sports but none were tom boys. there's a girl i hung out with who could keep up with us, but she was never just one of the boys. we'd help her when we went climbing and adventures, but she was never like "DONT TOUCH ME! I can do it MY SELF Harumph!" :D

and I dont really care, and there is nothing wrong with what everybody chooses to do (Like I always say, and always will).... just curious what the growth stimuli is now days, as oppsoed to the past. :)
