Movie franchises which saddens you failed

It’s a teen franchise but it was a bummer Mortal instruments didn’t work. Especially because I liked the main actors a lot, the chemistry was definitely palpable.

It’s a real bummer we only got the first film

I’m assuming this was intended as a franchise, Ben Affleck’s Daredevil. Not well liked but I enjoyed it.

Deeply bummed we didn't get any Dirk Pitt sequels with McConaughey and Zahn,. They had the rights to bang out a trilogy but it all went pear shaped. Just ended up with the enjoyable but flawed Sahara.

Those were good novels for the basis of a bunch of scripts, it could have been like an Indy/Bond sort of mash up franchise👍

The Universal Monsters franchise.

I would love to see new versions of Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein and The Wolfman.

The versions of The Wolfman and The Mummy released fairly recently didn't earn very high praise. Deservedly so! They weren't very good in my opinion.

I thought Conan The Barbarian with Arnie could have had legs as a trilogy at least…and maybe more.

The second one, Conan The Destroyer had some great scenes but was a bit too light hearted and silly considering the source material. My guess is the studio wanted to soften the doom, gloom and violence of the first film with a bit of comic relief after the backlash against the 1982 version.

I really hoped for a final installment at least, about King Conan Of Aquilonia.

Oh well, it was not meant to be but the fans still have the comics and books.

2012's Dredd should have been the start of a franchise rather than a one-off.

Seconded

Ansolutely.
That was a great action movie, I would have liked a few sequels.

The comics became increasingly odd but the writers could have worked out a couple more scripts based on the source material.

Sadly it’s very unlikely to ever happen but Dredd was great.

I have every issue of 2000AD - Judge Dredd made his debut in issue #2 (Comic Collecting Andy).

Vampire Academy 2014 I listened to the audiobook series, and really enjoyed them, but the movie was terrible.

I went to see that film with one of my bffs who read all the books and she was pissed off how the movie turned out, especially about the casting of Dimitry.

She Complained so much and so hard that I remembered the name of the leading male character. She told me how Dimitry was supposed to be a character to swoon over and how differently was described on the books.
It’s what disappointed her the most on that movie.I didn’t hate the movie and yeah with a better casting of the leading man I could see potential for a great franchise.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara

Their on-screen chemistry was off-the-charts with Mara going above and beyond bringing Lisbeth to the screen, and it was a real shame only the first movie was filmed with them.

The Riddick films. Yes I know a fourth film is in supposedly in development but it's been 10 years since the last film and Vin is too old now to play the character. I don't think Chronicles deserved the bad reviews the critics gave it and it pretty much killed the franchise with the low box office.
