How often do you upgrade your phone?

I just upgraded from an S9 to an S23. Had my old one about 6 years I think. Loved it, but the battery was getting awful, had to keep restarting it as it kept freezing and the camera was poor (relative to newer phones).

This one feels too big right now but I'm sure I'll get used to it. I chose this just because of the camera, it really is amazing. Most of the other stuff it boasts about I will never use, I'm not tech minded at all.

I usually buy mid range phones and they seem to last about two years. I currently have the Samsung a52 and I bought it May of 2021. The battery is starting to have issues with charging so I'll be looking to upgrade in a month after i get through some bigger bills I have to payoff.

I just buy the cheapest decent dumb phone I can get. I recently replaced the old 3G one I had for five years or so with a 4G one because they are phasing out 3G later this year or next.

Are you like 80?

reply

I am like old yes. When I was a young child we had no television, or telephone and cooking was done on a wood combustion stove and there was an open fireplace in the lounge for heating. The toilet was down the bottom of the yard and consisted of a wooden bench over a big can that was collected/replaced every so often by the dunny can man. We didn't have an electric refrigerator either and the iceman used to bring a big block of ice every morning for the ice box.

Do you hate brown people?

reply

No but I hate cats.

Do cats hate you?

Do you specialize in asking stupid questions ?

reply

Did you ask that in the form of a stupid question?

reply

DICK.

You don't have to be old to have common sense. $12-1500.00 phones are an abject waste of money.

reply

depends how long until I break it

reply

Never, unless you count the time I replaced the plastic number pad with a metal one, which I guess was an upgrade:

Western Electric phones don't actually need any upgrades. I only did that because I liked the look and feel of the metal number pad better than the original plastic one.

Very rarely. I currently have an iPhone 7 that I’ve had since 2018. Sometimes I would like to have a bigger screen but since this one still works perfectly I can’t justify the price to keep up with the latest and greatest.

Well. I've had four phones since cell phones came out. Whenever the hell that was. The old flip phone, the slider phone with the keyboard, an iphone and now i got a moto thing. I'd say I get at least 5-7 years out of each of them.

reply

I upgrade every 4 or 5 years. My current phone, an iphone XR, I got in November of 2019 and it still suits my needs perfectly.

reply

I keep mine until it can no longer be supported with upgrades.

reply

Ditto.
