Where were you on 9/11 when it happened?

I woke up in the morning, turned on the tv, and there it was.

I was down in The Bronx at my job, it was my first week there, it’s the building I still work in. We had a lot of people to evacuate from a large building and honestly, none of us knew what the hell was happening.
No baloney, it was really confusing.

It took me two hours to get home nine miles away that day. The streets and highway were blocked.

People were crying in their cars.
I felt badly for them but I just wanted to get home.

I got back to the neighborhood and bought a bunch of beer and got a bit drunk.

I was at school when it happened, don't think most of us had a clue anything had happened until we got home later and saw the news.

I was playing football with friends. Came home to drink some water & all the adults were gathered around the tv.

Saw a building on fire. Didn't think much of it. Drank my water & left.

In the back of my mind, I thought they were watching a movie, show or something.

Likewise, sleeping because I live on the west coast.

Creepily, I had been dreaming about being on a hijacked plane just before I woke up, but I don't take that as proof of psychic abilities. I was sleeping with the TV on, and the news was on all the channels.

At work also. I remember getting home from work and watching the coverage all afternoon and evening while listening to "Play" by Moby again and again. One of the days I think I'll remember until the day I die.

At home. It was around 3 o'clock in the afternoon and there was breaking news about a plane flying into the WTC in New York.

I was getting ready for my bar job in Crete. Spent the summer working there. The day before, Destiny's Child announced their break up and my friend was a huge fan .... when he text me asking if I'd heard the awful news, I thought he was referencing this. He then enlightened me, I rushed off to work and spent my entire shift watching the TV with all the British tourists ☹
