Dog lovers look away 🀯

https://www.express.co.uk/news/nature/1690512/dog-news-pet-golden-retiever-taxidermy-rug

What the actual fuck ?!!!!!

Why on earth would anybody want this? That's your baby who would do anything for you, protect you and die for you. So you have it skinned and throw it on the floor for everyone to step on. I really don't understand this at all. At least regular taxidermy keeps the form of the animal. But walking all over them?!

I just don't understand the reasoning behind this.

Run over the Rainbow Bridge lovely Golden Retriever..... and forgive your family πŸ’œ

reply

I saw this and just thought "that's a choice." Not one I'd make.

reply

I don't see the problem. I personally wouldn't do it, but I can understand someone feeling that instead of never being able to see their dog again, they came up with this way to always see poor Spike.

reply

This mad me think about lines and where we draw them. I mean a lot of humans eat animals, but they don't eat all animals (at least here in Canada) We tend to stay away from household pets. So if we start skinning them for rugs, could we skin our loved ones? I'm not trying to be gross. It's something Ed Gein thought of. If it's okay to have the skin of our beloved fur babies around, then how much longer before we use grandma's skin for a blanket on the rocking chair? πŸ€”πŸ’

reply

YOU'RE TALKING TO samoanjoke...THAT DUDE DEFINITELY HAS ALL THAT CREEPY SHIT IN HIS HOUSE PLUS MORE RIGHT NOW. NOEMOJI

reply

You're*

reply

That won't happen because humans legally kill animals just so we can eat them. We don't look at animals the same way as humans.

reply

We don't eat our dogs, and cats. I'd say a lot of people love their dogs and cats more than humans.

reply

I guarantee you have.

reply

Which? Eaten my pets or loved them more than my ex husband? I mean other people.

reply

Eaten pet. Not yours most likely. Beware of restaurants that say their food is dog gone good! πŸ•

reply

At this point it's not against the law in Canada to do so, but fairly sure I haven't. I never really did the Chinese buffets (there were always rumours about that) and when I do, I don't eat a lot of meat.

tastes like chicken

reply

Cat or dog?

reply

good question 😊

reply

My quick, non-scientific, google search says cat is similar to goat or pork in texture but in flavor it does not taste good, and has a lot of small bones in it. Dog is closer to beef according to some people. Although I've also read goat mutton, or venison.

No chicken was really mentioned for either.

reply

i would imagine cat would be like rabbit tough and stringy.

reply

I'm truly amazed at how a glib comment about human skin morphed into the flavours of cats and dogs with no pot involved. (at least on my end)

reply

Yes, cats taste like rabbits.
Without skin you can hardly differ between cats and rabbits. Therefore it was a rule on markets (long ago) that the rabbit paws need to stay at their bodies until they're sold.

In the so called 'bad times' (between and after the World Wars) many people ate cats "Dachhasen" (= roof rabbits).

reply

i have eaten rabbit.

reply

Did you like it?
Saw what you said before.
Prepared in the right way it's not "tough and stringy". It's a very soft meat. Roasted too long it may become "tough and stringy".

reply

i used to have rabbit stew as a kid with plenty of root vegetables.

reply

Hmmm...you're the master of short and avoiding answers. ☺
Will interprete it as:
Didn't like it, my favourite bunny was in.

Btw. didn't and don't like veggies boiled for hours either, sloppy and watery. ☻

reply

For sure. Some people like taxidermy so I guess lovers of that would be open to their own animals.

reply

Human taxidermi is comin nd once it does youll have a grandma skin floor rug

reply

I saw this somewhere (certainly not in the Express) and couldn't decide if it was real or not. Seems like a horrible idea to me.

reply

It's not a "baby." It's a pet.

reply

AND, Elvis has left the building.

reply

It is your fur baby, not a mere pet!

reply

Agreed. My cat is more than a pet to me πŸ’œ

reply

Well, I consider my cats as friends or family members.
If you watch and treat them like babies they already won.
"Dogs have masters, Cats have employees." πŸ˜‰β€‹ πŸˆβ€β¬›β€‹πŸˆβ€β¬›β€‹πŸˆβ€β¬›β€‹

reply

πŸ˜„ true

reply

That would be a nasty and disrespectful way to treat a loyal pet and fine companion.
I’m not convinced that it’s real and yet there are some total loonies out there so who the hell knows…

reply

I saw it first on metro but then I couldn't find the story to post here so I googled it and an unnerving amount of different stories popped up. This was the first one I saw of the story I read, but there are many others who made this choice ☹

reply

Wow, it’s in extremely poor taste, morbid even.

I had to put a real beauty of a pal down about 10 years ago, she was suffering.
Who would think of keeping such a relic in their home?

Pictures, old stories and fond memories are enough. Jeez, people can be weird.

reply

I wouldn’t be able to look at that thing, with the deflated dog head attached to it. I hope common sense takes over and they bury it with the rest of the dog.

reply

This type of rug would be displayed, not walked in.
