Is life wonderful?

DESPITE its many shortcomings, pitfalls, dangers, flaws, hard times, confusions, line crossings, differences (NOT a bad thing, necessary), assholes, silliness, imperfections, pollutions, disasters, substances, ice, fires, emotions, etc etc etc?

Also, seen the film "Its a Wonderful Life" (1946)? Isn't its title ironic?

What's up with a popular bitter-sweet 1980s pop song "Wonderful Life" by Black (a late singer Colin Vearnecomb, who died in 2016, under the pseudo name I believe), being called "Wonderful Life" but sounding so sad? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1ZoHfJZACA

So is it, overall or in either case?

reply

Yes.

reply

No.

reply

If you have your health, and you're free, yeah.

reply

No.

reply

Heck yeah it is!
It’s also much better than the alternative Amigo👍

reply

The alternative being? Afterlife?

reply

The jury is still out on that but some of us remain hopeful

For the time being we wound up on this lovely wet rock floating around in space! There are jobs, girls, we have music and books and the internet, plus pets and all sorts of fun things

Living is good

reply

I like gadgets too, lol. :)

reply

Gadgets are fun!
Air Rifles, compasses, telescopes…I dig the gadgets as well

reply

You got that right brother.

reply

If the alternative is listening to KISS, I agree.

reply

It’s a Biblical miracle that we get along so well, you love a long, dark and oppressive Winter and you truly hate KISS…what strange cosmic coincidence brought us together?!?

reply

It's definitely the bromance.

reply

You got me all tearing up over here
I can’t quit you

I hope that didn’t make this weird

*operation thread hijack underway

reply

yes mostly.

reply

And what do you think of that "Wonderful Life" song by Black Damo? ("No need to run and hide, its a wonderful wonderful life.)

reply

i don't really have any thoughts on the song tbh.

i think we had a brief back & forth recently where i said that i have no ability to get any meaning out of song lyrics. i never think about lyrics & what they're saying, & i definitely don't know what that song's about.

reply

But you've heard it, yes?

reply

i had heard it before - because i think you posted it here, i'm pretty sure? i pulled it up on youtube, and the stream had a red line under it, indicating i'd listened to it at least once before. must be your fault!

reply

"must be your fault!"
awwww. :) :) :)

reply

kidding!
though i didn't like the song much.

i find it a little funny that you post ... the chills, let's say in the music thread, yet you have a taste for this kinda slightly cheesy 80s power-ish ballad.

let me ask you...

who are your 5 favourite musicians/performers?

reply

No worries.

Hard to pick top 5. But maybe among the likes of - Kraftwerk, David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Mozart but list can always change, I have loads.

reply

Most of the time.

reply

The song is 100% ironic. The movie's message is that life is still good despite all the shit it gives you.

reply

100%? OK.

reply

Yep, the guy said it himself.
