Do you like Candy Corn?

I do. It's delicious. How about you?

I do not like
it at all, it's awful

At the risk of getting too political we should drop a million pounds of that shit on the Taliban, give them a real bellyache...

I've liked it ever since I was a kid. I also like the related "harvest mix" or "Autumn mix" and the pumpkin-shaped candies.

I see the Halloween candy displays are already up in some stores. It's August, folks. I like Halloween but it's too early for this stuff.

reply

It's always been like that. Heck last year the Kroger store I work at had the Halloween stuff out the last day of July. This year though the Halloween stuff still hasn't come in yet.

reply

Not always. I can remember when you would see Halloween candy in October... maybe the last week of September at the earliest. Never in July or August.

I think a lot of it has to do with the U.S. Congress extending that idiotic Daylight Savings Time into the first week of November back in 2007, effectively ruining Halloween. There were rumors that the candy manufacturers were pushing for this, believing it would increase sales. What they failed to realize is that when the clocks are messed up the kids lose an hour of trick-or-treating, especially when the holiday falls on a school night.

My guess is they lost sales in October and are trying to compensate for this by putting up displays as early as July. Another way to cheapen the holiday experience. If anyone has another theory I would be interested to hear it.

reply

No, I don't.

reply

I'm moderately fond of it.

I eat it maybe once a year or two, because if I'm going to say "Screw healthy eating" at eat some candy, well. Good quality chocolate is widely available, why settle for candy corn.

reply

👍🏼

reply

Not since about age 7. Gave it up at about the same time as jelly beans? But I don't eat any candy any more .... but those are especially vile.

reply

When I was a kid, certain candies were considered a rip off by us kids when trick or treating. Circus peanuts, Smarties, Mary Janes, and candy corn were among them. But candy corn is alright, I guess.

reply

The real ripoff was the next day after Halloween when I wanted to eat the candy I collected and my parents said they threw it away because they didn’t know if it was safe. KHAAAN!

reply

That sucks

reply

Psssst... They ate it...

Love it!

Ew, no. I like chocolate, English toffee, butter mints, salt water taffy, and really good gum drops or fruit-shaped gumdrops. But I rarely have any of those. Except chocolate.

The only thing worse than candy corn are those hideous orange-colored, (supposedly) banana-flavored circus peanuts.
