Have you ever visited the capital of your country.

I have been to Ottawa twice. The parliament buildings are very nice. The war museum is also enlightening.

reply

No. Nor do I want to.

reply

why not?

reply

I keep hearing how boring it is there. Also I hate the Sens and don't want to step on loser land.

reply

i guess you are not a history buff.

go habs.

Yes I've been to Canberra half a dozen times and stayed there for a few weeks from time to time. It's a bit of a running joke amongst certain superior types because it has a smallish population 430,000 with lots of civil servants naturally enough.

Having lived in the much larger Melbourne population 5,100,000 most of my life I quite like Canberra. It has all the amenities without being crowded. It's pretty too if you like well ordered reasonably affluent suburban life.

We joke about Ottawa also and how sleepy it is compared to Toronto. But it is not a bad place to live although the winters can be brutal.

reply

How do you pronounce it, it seems like every other video is different

reply

Usually Can ( like a tin Can ) - bruh

Although it's sometimes pronounced Can-burr-rah

reply

Thanks...most of my life I pronounced it Can-bear-ah, probably influenced by the pronunciation of Yogi Berra, the baseball player.

reply

Yes, I've been to DC many times, but not since 2001.

reply

I come from the UK and lived in London for 14 years.

I now live in Singapore, which is a city state so essentially its own capital.

reply

I visited D.C. with my family when I was just a lad (under 12 years old). I've always wanted to go back as an adult. But so far haven't.

I've been to DC many times.

reply

No, but I once spent an entire afternoon touring the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library; lots of fascinating war memorabilia for a baby boomer in there.

reply

I like Ike.

reply

Same here; he's always been a favorite president. I was involved in this event, but in the interest of maintaining my internet anonymity, I don't want to provide details.

Eloquent rhetoric. I recognize that patch at the top.
