Yeah, for less than a gram of weed. What a complete fucking waste of police resources.
shareno
shareRoughly half a dozen times or so.
shareNo. I got stopped for a speeding ticket...48 in a 35 and my hands were shaking so much the cop felt sorry for me. He said, its fine, just do the class online and it won't be on your record.
shareyou were pretending. nice move.
shareNo not at all. I get very scared when authority figures come into play. I got jury duty for the first time a year ago.. I kept telling myself, everythings going to be ok, you're not going to be picked. But I was and I had to stand in front of 100 people and explain why I couldn't be on the jury. Luckily the judge recognized my paraylizing fear and let me go. Now I know, Jury summons, ignore.

I was on my county's circuit court panel about fifteen years ago. In Kentucky panel members serve for three months. We were given a list of dates when a jury might be needed and a phone number to call to check the evening before. The cases alternated month by month; one month it was all civil cases, the next was all criminal, the next was all civil again. During the civil case months we hardly ever had to go in at all, those cases are almost always settled before trial. During the criminal month we almost always had to go to court but there was rarely a trial. I guess when the defendant sees that his prayers weren't answered and the star witness against him didn't have a massive stroke during the prior night, the plea bargain offered by the prosecution suddenly looks pretty good. Most of those mornings we arrived at 9 and were done by 10:30.
I did serve on one jury, a rental property dispute. When I was selected for a second jury I thought, "I've already done one trial, and this case sounds like a real piece of shit." When asked if I knew any of the parties to the case I answered truthfully that I knew one of the defense attorneys, we had gone to the same high school. I didn't lie, but I phrased the answer in a way that made it sound as if we were close friends when in fact we had never been anything more than nodding acquaintances. I got what I wanted, the prosecutor bumped me off the jury.
All in all, the experience was more boring than anything else. Bring a good book to read and you'll be fine.
