5. Cuties
6. Hamilton
7. Tenet
8. Skin: A History of Nudity in the Movies
9. Valley Girl
10. Spree

I"m not sure. As long as it portrays black people as victims, heroic and courageous and dignified and brilliant. And white people are racist genocidal maniacs.

reply

And men are blithering idiots that can easily get beat up by skinny women.

i still have only seen 43 films this year, so creating a top 10 out of that seems pretty silly.

but i enjoy making lists, so here's what i've enjoyed the most:

bacurau
i'm thinking of ending things
dogs don't wear pants
the mortuary collection
first love
cuties
the deeper you dig
lingua franca
sorry we missed you

Gretel & Hansel

A very dark take on an already dark fairy tale from Director Osgood Perkins. In spite of the pre-emptive howls from the butthurt incels that condemned the film to Hell based on nothing but the title it is in no way woke at all. It is however difficult and obscure but there are murky depths to be delved into if you don't mind diving in.

reply

Saying that the movie is not woke... while at the same time you label people who criticize the movie as "incels", which is an standard term wokes use to insult non-wokes... well, that doesn't make your point particularly credible, just saying...

It's like an ultra-Christian saying that some movie X is not in no way Christian at all, it's just that people who criticize it are a bunch of butthurt Satan Worshippers 😂😂

Whatever medication you're on it's not working.

1. Downhill
2. The Platform
3. Mr. Jones
4. The Invisible Man
5. The Hater
6. The Devil All the Time
7. 1BR
8. #Alive
9. Mank (haven't even seen it, but it's Fincher, so it'll probably wind up at the top)

That's all I've got. Obviously been a very lean year. Next year's Oscars should be interesting.

That’s the best list posted in this thread yet. 😀

reply

I've seen so few movies this year and all those I listed are in the top 2020 Worldwide Box Office charts. 😀

The only good thing about COVID-19 seems to be decent movies back at my local cinema, right now they have Alien, The Exorcist, Carrie, Psycho & Silence of the Lambs showing!

Silence of the Lambs is the only film from that list I saw at the cinema the first time.

reply

None were above average so I wouldn't pin a medal on any for "best of the worst"

I could make a worst list though.

reply

What would be on your worst list?

reply

Worst of 2020:

Inheritance 2/10
You Should Have Left 2.5/10
Mulan 3.5/10
The Invisible Man 3/10
On the Rocks 3.5/10
Like a Boss 4/10

(I would have said that 1917 was the best of 2020 but turns out it was technically 2019)

Movies that were OK:

Extraction 5/10
The Gentleman 5.5/10
Greyhound 6/10
Tenet 5/10
Enola Holmes5.5/10

reply

Seen only one of those and not all the way through. I lost interest. Trail of the Chicago 7.

So my list is.......
