I will never understand this. I like to be able to see, when is it ever that sunny that you would want to diminish your vision and have something sitting on your face? The only reason I still wear them occasionally is for style and when I’m fishing the polarization can be helpful. But people wear them like they do watches, like they’re essential.

I am reminded of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Zaphod's sunglasses are the most advanced there are. The primary function of sunglasses being to look cool, they are "danger polarized." The more danger there is around you, the darker the glasses get. Thus you are less likely to see something that makes you lose your shit and you maintain your cool.

shareI find bright glaring sunlight physically uncomfortable, too much light can make me feel ill. I was once cross-country skiing across a show-covered meadow in late spring, high in the mountains where there is more ultraviolet in the light, and I'd forgotten my sunglasses. I thought I was going to faint, the glare was so penetrating!

Sunglasses are essential to some people. Light sensitivity is a thing. You can sunburn your eyes. You can also get snow blindness. UV light can be harmful to all parts of your eye. Lids, retinas, corneas, and even your lenses. Protect your eyes. Wear shades and stop complaining.
