The Station Attendant

reply

The Station Agent with Peter Dinklage?

reply

Yeah. Not much happenned iirc,

didnt stop it being an entertaining movie though

reply

"The Station Agent" is not a "nothing happened" movie, it's just a very subtle movie. What happened in it was a man making a new life for himself, making a new home and making new friends, eventually coming out of the defensive shell he's built around his soul.

It was also, for me at least, Dinklage's "A Star Is Born" moment.

reply

Those movies with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.

reply

They're all good too.

reply

Lol I've seen every one. My girl at the time forced me to watch the first one. After that i was just pretending like I was doing her a favor by watching the next. I secretly enjoyed them very much.

Adventureland (2009)
The Grocer's Son (2007)

reply

Dazed and Confused was great. That's my era in the middle '70s. That's all we did was smoke weed and drink beer.

reply

I like it but it's not about anything.

reply

Yeah, just kids getting high.

reply

The good old days.

Gravity (2013)

reply

That's the biggest negative with the movie.

Fantastic Four (2015)
Samsara (2011)
Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Bad Lieutenant (1992)
True Romance (1993)
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Dunkirk (2017)
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
Sully (2016)
Dark Shadows (2012)

reply

Samsara would have been bad if it was about something.

reply

hehe, i love Napoleon Dynamite

If you are watching a movie that you think is about 'nothing', you are either bored, stoned, drunk or texting on your phone at the same time.

Best example of these types of movies for me is Glengarry Glen Ross. A minimal plot about real estate guys trying to make a living, and someone robbing the office.

But its about desperation, guys that live on their wits, cold calling customers and trying to get into their house and make a sale by any means possible...lie, cheat, steal etc.

No action, no set pieces, just the most incredible dialogue ever.

reply

I agree about the dialogue which I thought really pushed the stereotype of the glib, high-pressure salesman.

reply

then again there's Surfer, Dude (2008)

hahaa talk about nada

reply

1917 (2019) synopsis : a couple of guys wander round a brownfield site.
