Name and describe your favorite firearm.
You don't have to own it or even fired a weapon at all.
Anything with a chemical reaction propelling a projectile is fair game.
Mine is my Mossberg M590a1.
12ga pump shotgun. Only shotgun to pass US Armed Forces mil specs.
A few months ago my neighbor was shooting my LCP and had faulty round that lodged in the barrel. Had to use a hammer and screwdriver to beat it out. Went to my gunshop to buy a barrel and after they spoke on the phone Ruger asked us to send the entire pistol to look over.
I figured since I have several of their products that I could possibly get a free barrel out of it.
Froggy, they couldn't find the problem so they sent me a new one!
Now THAT'S customer service!
Gotta love those unconditional guarantees, right? 😁
I like the Mossberg Model 500 12 Gauge, it's my favorite shotgun, it has synthetic stocks and a 5 round tube mag...this is an ugly looking hunting gun that cannot be destroyed👍
I also like my .35 Marlin Lever Action over all the rest of the guns
You could shoot the lights out with this thing, the stock iron sights are perfectly adequate
I love my 30-30 Winchester rifle
Lever action, accurate as can be!
My cute little .22 Marlin semi-auto with a 17 round tubular Magazine is very fun for 'plinking' cans and trees
Several other favorites...I DO love my guns!
I want to get a pistol permit but it's a big pain in the ass in New York...it's possible I have something tucked away anyhow😉
Had to jump thru a few hoops to get the tn permit, but it was worth it. I think they're good for 6-8 years now.
Get your permit. Get caught carrying and a judge with 'rhoids and it could be bad. The hassle is worth it.
Great picks. Love the Winchester.
It's hard to believe some people want to let criminals out, let criminals in, and at the same time make it harder to protect ourselves.
That said, everyone who owns a firearm, without exception, needs to prove their responsibility and capability. Just too many idiots carrying guns.
All excellent in their fields. The 1911 is on my wish list. Some of the copies are actually better in different ways but that's not why I want the Colt, y'know? Preferably with some history.
I know what you mean. I bought mine in the early 90’s and turned around and brought it straight to a gunsmith and had work done in it that cost twice as much as it’s brand new price tag. Now you can buy one like that over the counter for 1500 to 2000 range from countless manufacturers. Lots of options.
The last USGI 1911s were manufactured during WWII (1945), so the ones that were used in Vietnam were all from WWII or earlier. The M1911 was made until 1924 when the M1911A1 superseded it. The M1911A1 was only ordered in relatively small quantities until the US got involved in WWII, when orders for it ramped up drastically. Most of them were made by Remington Rand, the typewriter company (no relation to Remington UMC, the gun company, which made some M1911s, but never made any M1911A1s). Colt was the second biggest producer of M1911A1s, and the biggest (and original) producer of M1911s.
And yes, all USGI 1911s are wicked expensive these days, which sucks, because when I first started buying guns in the early 1990s, there were several Colt M1911s at my local gun shop for $275 each, and there was a Remington Rand M1911A1 in nice condition at a different gun shop for $400. I still kick myself for not buying one of them. I seriously considered it, but I didn't think there was any hurry.
The Enfields and Nagants were the same way, dime a dozen, nobody cared because the newer tech was so much better.
Now they're all collectors' items.
That's ok. Our stuff will be too. I think yours already is.
Yeah, I have no regrets about buying a new Colt Government Model in '91; it's one of my favorite possessions and I plan to keep it for the rest of my life. I just wish I would have bought one of those USGI 1911s in addition to it, and not because I could sell it now for way more than I paid for it, but because a US military contract 1911 is just something I'd like to have. But now the prices are too high for me to justify the purchase.
The same gun shop that had those Colt M1911s for $275 also had about a dozen USGI M1 Carbines for around $100 each. I regret not buying one of those too (they are a lot more expensive now).
I inherited a Beretta M9 from my dad. It was given to him in the box unused. It's not anything special but just being military issue instead of civilian means something to me. Plus it was his.
I miss him everyday.
Nice. I just got a new/unissued Bianchi M12 holster. I don't have any use for it because I don't have a Beretta 92 or M9, but it didn't cost much ($20) and it's an interesting bit of militaria.
Wow $20? The holsters I have to fit it are just the cheap nylon stuff. I'd love to have one that's made for it. Ah, one day. Got other things to do first ;)
Yeah, I got it off eBay. The seller has sold 44 of them and still has "more than 10 available." They are new without original packaging. Mine still has the hollow plastic tube inside it (to keep the holster's shape) with the "SOLDIER'S GUIDE to the Wear and Care of the M12 Holster (ambidextrous) for the M9 9mm Handgun" pamphlet wrapped around it.
There are other places that have them cheaper (I know of one place that has them for $40 plus shipping), but I don't know of anywhere else that has them for $20 shipped.
I'm gonna have to look a bit closer. I plan to trade it to my little brother for Dad's Henry Evil Roy (seriously nice .22lr) and I bet he'd like a surprise holster for it.
Thanks Max ;)
I like the way they look. Really unique. The original, especially the early ones, had a couple Bad design flaws. An original will cost you a bit, but the modern copies are awesome for the same price.
Most of the the real nice shooting ranges will let you rent pretty much anything you want to shoot - including desert eagles 😁
Someone will walk you thru it, prices are generally reasonable and I think all you need is legal ID.
