Any Laurel & Hardy fans here?

I picked up the Laurel & Hardy Essential collection dvd box set a while ago. It is a 10 disc set which contains the 40 sound shorts and 10 feature films they made between 1929-1940 for Hal Roach. So far I watched 10 of the short films and 3 of the feature films. I've really been enjoying them. Any other fans here?

reply

Yes I grew up watching Laurel and Hardy on television and I have 'March of the Wooden Soldiers' on DVD. Two of the immortals in comedy.

reply

Absolutely. Stan and Babe were among the greatest.

reply

I don't know if a fan.
But I love March of the Wooden Soldiers.
It's one of my favorite movies, but I only reserve to watch at Christmas time.

reply

I've seen maybe 2 of their films. Which ones would you recommend?

reply

Sons of the Desert is my favourite. I would recommend it. Pack Up Your Troubles and Pardon Us are good too.

reply

Good. I haven't seen those ones.

Dick Van Dyke was talking about the first time he met Stan Laurel. He told Laurel he had been doing his act and Laurel responded “I know”.

reply

I remember this. Dick was a huge fan of Stan's.

reply

I like them, but every now and again there'll be a scene where they over egg the omelette a bit.

reply

Yes!! My favorite episode of Laurel & Hardy is when they are learning to fly an airplane. It was hilarious!

reply

Flying Deuces?

reply

Yes!

I'm an Abbott and Costello fan. Abbott and Costello meet every monster, awesome.

reply

I like Abbott and Costello too. I've seen 18 of their films.

reply

This is such silly stupid humor but with these guys it actually worked.

reply

Those are the ones I remember.

reply

"Who's on first" was one of the all time classics.
