Looks very shady. There is a strong possibility that it was brought down by an anti-aircraft missile.

reply

Or perhaps it was just an old plane who's engine caught fire?

I'm not saying that it wasn't shot down, but Iran's conflict is with the US right now, and there didn't appear to be any Americans on board.

Unless it was Russia that shot it down to stir up more conflict.

reply

I assume it was an accident caused by human error or a malfunction of their warning systems.

reply

They won't let out the black boxes or let any investigaters in. A US built plane but the builder can't go there and find out why.

reply

From what I've read they arent letting American investigators in.

There were at least 30 people from my city on that plane. They were coming home after a wedding, so I really hope that it was just a fire in the engine and not something to do with what's going on.

reply

People say and now I can see from the pictures what looks like schapnel holes all in the wing and fusealauge. A nerveous person at a missile battery could be the cause.

I don't consider this news source trustworthy so I will wait for judgement on this until other media reports similar findings.

I know that the civil engineering department at the UofA is in mourning. My best friend's husband was there this morning doing some computer work and it was all he could do not to cry as well.

reply

Unless it was Russia that shot it down to stir up more conflict.

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking as well when I heard the news. But I'll reserve judgment until more information comes out. I'm hoping it's not that, but if it is, God help us.

reply

Maybe the Americans on board were spies so they weren't using American passports, for obvious reasons.

reply

No Americans. We have low unemployment so people here aren't forced to work for a company that would send us over there.

reply

What do you mean? Spies are sent everywhere regardless of unemployment levels.

reply

Well it wasn't a spy that gave up that guy. It was his daughter being told now. She wanted the reward money and freedom to move to Germany , get a condo and marry that blond ski instructor boyfriend she has.

The official investigation will reveal the truth, let's not get hazy

reply

depends on who is investigating

reply

I am really hoping it's an accident. It just doesn't make sense for Iran to shoot down the plane. It was leaving from their airport. They knew who was on it. I guess that's why they don't want to release the black box. It would be nice if they would let someone else, other than the US, do the investigation.

reply

Fog of war... high tensions..happened only a few hours after Iran launched 12 missles.. a mistake by a Iranian anti-aircraft missle operator looks likely, thinking it was a US plane counterattacking

This I believe more than Iran purposefully targeting this plane.

reply

I'm the opposite. It's just the sort of thing I'd expect from those gutter rats.

reply

Only 17 countries have the ability to investigate plane crashes. Iran is not one of them.

A tragic waste of life.

reply

It was deliberate. Justin TrueD'oh wimps out again with his "it was probably an accident" comment. Same thing from Trump as well.

reply

Such insanity...I can't believe things got so crazy in just a matter of days

reply

Those bastard Iranians have admitted that they shot it down. They said it was an "accident". Right.
