Hey mods, did you ever heard about freedom of speech?

And don't start with "Jim made it this way" crap again ๐Ÿ™„

reply

Freedom of speech only applies to government not private entities like Moviechat.org.

Another political thread deleted?

reply

Yes

reply

Political threads are allowed... on Politics board. Come join that board, what do you afraid of?

reply

What DO YOU afraid of on not allowing these kind of discussions on GD?

reply

In the Politics board you will find seasoned political debaters. Are you afraid of discussing politics with the real deals? Are you only able to fight againts opponents not your size? Do you only play your games on EASY?

It's not a party until something gets broken!

reply

I never use that difficulty in my gameplay sessions

reply

What is your reason for wanting to discuss politics in the general section rather than in the political discussion section? Thatโ€™s where people go to discuss politics. Why not post it there?

The rules is that political threads are placed in the political sub-forum. The goal is to prevent the general forum from being flooded with threads about Trump (or similar). That's reasonable.

This is by far one of the freest forums I've seen. The rules are easy and reasonable. Let's keep it that way.

reply

We did fine for over two years without having to quarantine one topic. Next someone will decide religious debate upsets them and that will be banned too.

reply

Well that's up to Jim, not exactly a random "someone" really.

reply

The place is in danger of becoming overly sanitized. I don't know why people can't ignore threads that they don't find of interest. I used to ignore the political threads when they were posted here on general discussion.

reply

That bloody Jim* again ๐Ÿ˜ค

I guess we all have to abide by the rules that politics should be discussed in the politics section. Itโ€™s not a huge ask. I can see the reasoning too, especially on a movie forum, some people want a place they can come to discuss things other than the political news which can be overwhelming if you even just watch the news on tv. I wouldnโ€™t take it personally, unless you were thinking you specifically should be above the rules, thatโ€™s your own fight I guess.

* I have no idea who the hell Jim is

reply

Jim is the creator of this site (helpful Andy)

reply

Jim is God and Savior.

reply

I am just coming here for a little bit of fun!

reply

It would be like me going onto the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider board and making endless posts about Star Wars - what would be the point?

Here on MC theyโ€™ve dedicated a whole board, just for politics.

reply

Itโ€™s because some people are obsessed with pushing their political views on others. Iโ€™ve heard the political discussion board is full of seasoned debaters so maybe the defeated lightweights show up here.

reply

Right but not every news/current events topic is "politics".

reply

Of course, the teracotta army news is not political...

reply

Unfortunately, I never saw the specific thread that the OP is bemoaning.

reply

I think it involved the recent Iranian news.

reply

Oh the totally uncontroversial, non inflammatory, non contentious โ€˜cowardly murder of an Iranian generalโ€™ thread. Maybe not so much the subject matter, but perhaps the tone?

reply

I agree that I didn't comment on it because of the tone of the post, not the topic itself. I'm not a mod, so I don't really know why it was deleted.
