Have you ever returned fruit or vegetables to a store?
A guy at the supermarket this morning was trying to return peaches he bought two days ago. I have never done this.

shareNo, I've never done that.
shareNo, but I can sympathize with the guy. I bought a bag of dry juiceless peaches this week. They were organic too, so extra $$$ lost 😡😡😡.
shareYou are supposed to inspect your fresh produce so I imagine you have accepted the risk. And it's not like they will resell to someone else so I hope people just bite the bullet when you find that half a worm in that tasteless, expensive peach.
shareThey looked great. They felt firm and juicy. I bought a few earlier and the week and they were nice. When I cut into these peaches, they were all pulpy.
But I agree, fruits and veg are not like other food items. You give your best inspection at the store but that does not always guarantee quality.
Many years ago I was tasked with buying the family's fresh produce, and I recall that the best looking stuff wasn't always the best tasting, and I would intentionally buy melons that had maybe some discoloration. My Mom was ill so she couldn't do a lot of shopping but it was interesting to go to the smallish grocer with everything fresh and just a few blocks away. I loved the old, small grocers and butchers I grew up with. Now everything seems to be as big as they can get away with. Target, Walmart, Fred Meyers/Kroger, Safeway/Albertsons, Whole Foods, Market of Choice. I once thought I could survive a nuclear winter if I managed to bunker inside some Super Store.
shareThe small local grocers and butcher stores were the best. There are grocery delivery companies that sell local produce in my area but they are so expensive. There is one that sells ugly looking “reject” produce that swears the stuff is high quality otherwise. Haven’t tried that one yet.
shareHmm, did you notice afterward if the peaches lacked a smell?
shareThats incredibly petty. Natures not perfect, so your going to get a bad piece of fruit now and then. I've returned meat before, but it was bad before the best by date.
shareOnly Kramer does that and it got him banned

I forgot about this 😊
shareYes. Once I returned a mango to the grocery store because when I opened it up it was all brown inside instead of yeilow.
shareNo, I haven't. I don't think I've ever returned anything to a grocery store.
shareI returned a bottle of liquid tide which had a crack and was leaking
shareThat's a legitimate reason. That reminds me of a time, not too long ago, that a gallon of milk I bought leaked in the car on the way home - probably a critique of my driving. 😉 I suppose I should have taken it back, but I didn't. Too much trouble - I mean, it wasn't much of a loss and the remainder was still good. All I could think about was that the car would smell like sour/spoiled milk. It didn't, so I guess I must have done a decent job of cleaning it up.
