Max Headroom (30 seconds into the future)

reply

Ha!! Forgot that one
Been a long while....

reply

Forgot about this one.Cool show.Ahead of it's time.

reply

It was far ahead of its time. You might say that it was max ahead of its time. Starred Matt Frewer, Jeffrey Tambor (Hellboy!) and Amanda Pays (the first, and easily the best, The Flash): good cast. The only TV show I know of that started out as a commercial for CocaCola. It's a show that deserves to be remembered.

Think about it: Max Headroom was doing AI at a time when AOL and "you've got mail" was considered the cutting edge. This was 1987, man, 3 years after The Terminator and the same year as RoboCop. VERY progressive for a network TV show. Most of the other shows named in this topic, e.g., Time Trax, TekWars, Stargate, were all either syndicated and privately produced, sold as editorial content to local broadcasters with no network affiliation, or were produced for pay TV. I just described 30 out of the OP's list of 45 shows. An actual broadcast network, 30 freaking years ago, did a science-fiction series that was this imaginative and progressive. No wonder that it didn't last.

reply

Rick & Morty -- the best
Quantum Leap -- loved it in my teens
Star Trek the Next Generation -- same

Need to watch Firefly some time.

reply

That is one IMPRESSIVE list, Irina. You really know your Sci-Fi shows. My list is way shorter:

Twilight Zone
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Fringe
Star Trek (The original, of course. I'm Old Skol.)
Lost In Space
Red Dwarf

Thanks but I adore Sci-Fi. Back in the day I loved almost every trashy sci-fi series. You will be surprised but "RoboCop: The Series" (1994-1995) is still one of my all-time favorite TV shows

reply

You are a true Sci-Fi fan, Irina. I've watched lots of them also. I also enjoy reading Sci-Fi literature. My favorite authors are in alphabetical order: Douglas Adams, Isacc Assimov, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke and Robert Heinlein.

Just one Trek series on your list?

reply

I love the original ST series very much. I forgot to add them but I never liked others except for Enterprise.

reply

That is a crazy long list! Very impressive. The only one I can think of that isn't there is the Battlestar Galactica reboot. If you've never seen it, I recommend at least the initial miniseries.

reply

"Black Mirror" and "The Prisoner."

reply

Yes, Black Mirror was great. Season 4 is supposed to be out soon.

reply

Westworld; almost forgot it because there's such big gap between the first season and the second.

reply

Red Dwarf
Blake's Seven
