Keeping track of what movies you've watched..

How does every one keep track or just in your mind? :) I have an app on my phone where I can add them to a list. I never used the lists on imdb. I was thinking of making a blog for myself with all the trailers of the movies I watch because that would be kind of neat to go back and look at. Yes, I realize I have too much time on my hands.

I keep them in my mind and a small, very small collection...well,the ones I like and loveπŸ˜‰

reply

oh i so wish i could keep copies of them all!! Good or bad, loved or not..haha. I loved collecting movies :)

reply

Well,Daisy...believe or not...I have the entire filmography of Milla JovovichπŸ˜‰

reply

How many movies is that?

reply

30,ar leastπŸ˜‰

reply

Hi Daisy! What app keeps track of your movies?

reply

I use watchnext. It also has a place for tv shows where you can hide the episodes from the list as you've seen them. This is good for someone like me who starts waaaay too many series at once and can't remember what episode I was on. It isn't all that fancy but it works well for what I want. I made a list for movies I want to see and one for the ones I have. Its funny how fast you can forget about some movies! (maybe that's for a reason! hehe)

reply

Thank you! I will definitely check that out. Along with some others, the IMDb rating system is the only way I kept track of movies I have watched. I don't want to visit there any more than I have to! I appreciate your help.

reply

It also keeps track of how much time you've spent on whatever episodes and movies you put in...that's a little scary. ;)

reply

I used to use IMDb for that. But after the message board shut down I uninstalled the app and I don't bother updating my list anymore.

reply

I have written down every movie and tv series I have watched over the past five years

reply

I do that for books I've read, but it never occurred to me to do the same for the movies. Maybe it's not too late to start now.

reply

I rememer my sister writing down all the movies we watched as kids, imagine if she had kept it up? Be too cool. Me though nowadays I can forget what movie I watched a few minutes after I watch it. haha. (Says alot for some of the movies I watch..hehe)

I use the website Letterboxd to kep track of what I watch. Here is the link:
http://letterboxd.com/

reply

Love that site and also use it for lists & i back up the lists on TMDB & IMDB just in case Letterboxd shuts down. Letteboxd is awesome!!!

reply

Thanks, will check that out for sure. :)

I rate every movie on imdb so it's easy to see the ones I've seen on my ratings list. There's currently 3830 titles on the list, but it's propably missing a bunch of older movies.

I'm Old Skol, so I printed the following lists, and keep them in a file folder marked "Lists":

IMDB Top 250
AFI Top 100
AFI Top 100 Comedies
All Oscar Winning Films
Armchair Oscars (or They Wuz Robbed)
Premiere Magazine's 25 Most Dangerous Films
Entertainment Weekly's 25 Most Controversial Films

Then I highlighted each one after I saw it. This keeps track of a lot of the films I've seen. Others I keep in memory.

Hope this helps.

Cool topic!

I have a word perfect file with all the movies I own. I crossed the 1400 mark but own over 70 movies I never watched yet. Then, on my phone I write down the movies I watch monthly along with the rating.

reply

Sounds like you need to watch those 70 films.

😎

reply

Yep, its like I have my own video store at home. So between that and netflix I have a watchlist of over 200 movies.

reply

That's a lot of movies.

😎

reply

Yeah, I just have to tackle each one of them, one by one, without losing it, ya know.

reply

Better get started.

reply

Oh I started and you know it!

That is a lot of movies to own. Pretty sweet. I've always moved a lot and would end up leaving behind my movies, so I've kind of given up on collecting them. :(
And yes you should get working on those 70. You are all set though if your cable and internet go down! :)

reply

Haha, yeah, and like I said to MovieMan, its like a home video store. I buy most of them used at 10 movies for 20$.

reply

Great deal too! :)
