Diana Rigg as the original Emma Peel
Tura Satana in Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill
Jane Fonda as Barbarella
Raquel Welch in like a million B movies
All them Bond girls, esp during the 70's
Ruth Negga in Preacher
Michonne in The Walking Dead
Deborah Ann Woll as Jessica in True Blood

reply

Wow.. never heard all of them except for Jane Fonda.

reply

WHAT
You've never heard of Raquel Welch?
You've never seen a James Bond movie?
And if you say 'those were before my time", then what about The Walking Dead, that is current.

I always have to roll my eyes when someone says "that was before my time" about film or books or music because these mediums survive. That's the purpose- it lasts more than a lifetime so you can watch/read/listen to things that happened before. Most of the movies I watched (on TV) growing up were made before I was born.

You need to immediately go watch the Russ Meyer CLASSIC 'Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill'.
It's your homework assignment. There will be a quiz.
Google the poster.
You'll thank me later.

reply

Unfortunately I have never seen The Walking Dead. Zombie movies does not interest me at all. I also haven't seen True Blood either.

Old James Bond movies I did see some of them. Maybe I just don't really care about the Bond girls. Most of them are typically not a badass girl type (which I enjoy in movies). More recent Bond films specifically the Brosnan era I hold dearly, Michelle Yeoh and Eva Green are my favorite Bond girls.

reply

I was too young when I used to watch The Avengers, but I do remember thinking Emma Peel (Diana Rigg) was awesome! And I was so /pleasantly/ surprised when I finally made the connection that she plays Olenna Tyrell on GoT.

No particular order:

Sharni Vinson (You're Next)
Sigourney Weaver (Alien Series)
Gina Carano (Haywire)
Cynthia Rothrock (Numerous cheesy 80s and 90s movies)
Michelle Yeoh (Police Story 3 and many more)
Pam Grier (I concur with everything she did)
Noomi Rapace (The Millennium Trilogy)
Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix Trilogy)
Summer Glau (Serenity)
Saoirse Ronan (Hanna)
Zhang Ziyi (House of Flying Daggers)
Meiko Kaji (Lady Snowblood)
Linda Hamilton (Terminator 2)

reply

Props to Saoirse Ronan

Great list!

Emily Blunt I love in anything.

I really dug Red Sonja as a kid, not many sword wielding ladies in the past (that I saw).

Charlize Theron for Furiosa! Awesome character!

Also, I see PK has mentioned Jane Fonda. I haven't seen Barbarella, but I loved her in Cat Ballou.

There are probably others, but I can't think of them right now.

reply

Wait...actionkamen,I just saw your list again...angelina jolie as Lara Croft...really!?

reply

She will still be the Lara Croft I know and love. Tall, smart and sexy Lara. I don't care about the moaning and groaning tiny Lara (the reboot version).

reply

Well,actionkamen...in the reboot she's still a kid,but in the second part she's more experienced...by the way,in the games,she's 162cm😉

reply

The original Lara Croft is 180cm tall.

reply

You didn't played the old ones,didn't you,Actionkamen?😉

reply

I played the original Tomb Raider in PlayStation 1.

reply

Well,Actionkamen...I.didn't had the chance to play the old ones😉

reply

Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider, Salt)
But I loved her as Lisa in Girl Interrupted, not sure if that's the type of bad ass you are looking for though...

reply

Wait,Daisy...you just compared jolie with Lara!?...you just pissed of the wrong girl,my friend😎

reply

Just copy and paste my dear .. haha..

reply

Of course you did,Daisy....I think you did that deliberatly😉

reply

hehe ;)

reply

Hahahha,you did Daisy...and you're not the only one...Lara is so angry😂😂😂

reply

I haven't seen Girl Interupted so I don't know.

reply

I so very loved it. I should actually give it a re watch one of these days.

reply

Can't leave out Diana Rigg (Emma Peel, "The Avengers" TV show)
Katee Sachoff (Starbuck, Battlestar Galactica)

reply

Jennifer Lawrence as well.

reply

While Emma Peel is a cultural icon, the reality is that the fight choreography in The Avengers was lame. Diana made it look good with her acting. Her martial arts chops were very girl-of-the-60s, like those of Stephanie Powers/April Dancer's on The Girl From UNCLE.

I've no doubts that, with proper training, Diana WOULD have been badass, but badass is not what she in fact executed on The Avengers.

What she executed was world-class desirability and class.
