Good news guys!

Basic email notifications have been added. If you're an existing user, to enable email notifications, go to your profile (by clicking your username in the navigation bar above) and click on "add email". New users will now be required to sign up with email and notifications will be enabled by default. There is also an option to opt out of email notifications, should you wish to do so.

You'll receive an email notification anytime someone replies directly to a post or reply you made.

I'm also working on adding notifications to the website as well (similar to what you would see on Facebook when someone comments/likes a post). As always, let me know your thoughts and suggestions.

tried to link my email but when I clicked the 'save" button I got

Application error

An error occurred in the application and your page could not be served. If you are the application owner, check your logs for details.

Hmm it looks like it did actually save my email, but it just showed me that error page after instead of a page saying " your email has been added" or something.

Wait, are you still trying to get notifications for when someone replies to you?

Yeah, I have it enabled but I didn't get an email for your reply.

Did you check your spam folder?

They have started coming in now, there is just about 30 minute delay or so.

Interesting. Yesterday, for me, they came in immediately. I even remember that the first reply was from klownz, who helped me check if my notifications were going through.

Yeah it was previously pretty slow, but I just made an optimization. So whenever you add/change your email and notification options, it should be much faster now.

You should put an announcement on the boards list, kind of like how IMDB did when they announced shutting the boards down, so they know about this without having to find it on a particular board they might not frequent.

Well he does have this thread. I guess an "UPDATE and whatever it is to title a thread would work. This site all ready works with most recently replied to threads going to the top of the page.

I like that when you get an email notification, rather than having to search through a huge thread to find your previous post, you just click on the mail link and it takes you right to your spot in the conversation. Very nice!
