Six years of Trump's tax returns released by Democrats.

Happy New Year!

TEXT:

Here are some key takeaways from a review of the documents:

Trump had a bank account in China

During a 2020 presidential debate, Trump was asked about having a bank account in China. He said he closed it before he began his campaign for the White House four years earlier.

“The bank account was in 2013. It was closed in 2015, I believe,” Trump said. “I was thinking about doing a deal in China. Like millions of other people, I was thinking about it. I decided not to do it.”

The tax returns contradict that account. Trump reported a bank account in China in his returns for 2015, 2016 and 2017.

The returns show accounts in other foreign countries including the UK, Ireland and St Martin in the Caribbean. By 2018, Trump had apparently closed all his overseas accounts other than the one in the UK, home to one of his flagship golf properties.

The returns do not detail the amount of money held in those accounts.

No reported charitable giving in 2020

In the final year of his presidency, Trump reported making no charitable donations. That was in contrast to the prior two years, when Trump reported about $500,000 (£414,060) worth of donations. It is unclear if any of the figures include his pledge to donate his $400,000 presidential salary back to the US government. He reported donating $1.1m in 2016 and $1.8m in 2017.

Money from the arts world

Trump collected a $77,808 annual pension from the Screen Actors Guild and a $6,543 pension in 2017 from another film and TV union, and reported acting residuals as high as $14,141 in 2015, according to the tax returns.

Trump has made cameo appearances in various movies, notably Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, but his biggest on-screen success came with his reality TV shows The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice.

Trump reported paying a little more than $400,000 from 2015 to 2017 in “book writer” fees. In 2015, Trump published the book, Crippled America: How to Make America Great Again, with a ghostwriter. The same year, Trump reporting receiving $750,000 in fees for speaking engagements.

Trump vows payback

Trump broke political tradition by not releasing his tax returns as a candidate or as president. Now Republicans warn that Democrats will pay a political price by releasing what is normally confidential information.

Trump underscored that in a statement on Friday morning, after his returns were made public.

“The great USA divide will now grow far worse,” he said. “The Radical Left Democrats have weaponized everything, but remember, that is a dangerous two-way street!”

Republicans on the House ways and means committee, which has jurisdiction over tax matters and released the Trump documents, warned that in the future the committee could release the returns of labor leaders or supreme court justices. Democrats countered with a proposal to require the release of tax returns by any presidential candidate – legislation that is unlikely to pass, given that Republicans take control of the House next week.

Republicans cannot disclose Joe Biden’s tax returns – because they are already public. Biden resumed the longstanding bipartisan tradition of releasing his tax records, disclosing 22 years’ worth of filings during his 2020 campaign.

How come I pay more taxes than that grotesque billionaire?

reply

Because you didn't.

reply

Keep telling yourself that.

reply

Because you do not possess the resources to milk the tax codes.

Blame congress for the rules.

In fact, you probably didn't pay any taxes because the majority of the 99% are not net-taxpayers.

reply

No wonder the GOP wants to defund the IRS. First they wanted to defund FBI and other law enforcement, then they set their sites on the IRS. Go figure...

reply

Yes, both agencies are corrupted and need to be disbanded. This is well known, but has nothing to do with why your life changes over Trumps taxes.

reply

Biden’s federal tax return for 2016, his last full year as vice president, showed adjusted gross income of nearly $400,000, while his 2017 federal tax return reported adjusted gross income of more than $11 million.

His 2018 federal tax return reported adjusted gross income of nearly $4.6 million.

Nothing corrupt going on here.

Move along.

Donald Trump is the only President in Modern history to actually lose money while in office AND donate every single Presidential Paycheck back to the Treasury Department.

reply

You only paid taxes last year because the lottery ticket you bought with your food stamps was a winner.

reply

I'm not sure if it was the best move to release the returns since tax information is supposed to be confidential. Trump did promise to release the returns several times so the release of the returns might have been justified. According to the article below, Trump was not under audit for the first two years of his Presidency so he could have released his returns. He always said that he would release them when the audit was over LOL!

USA Today has links to the various returns and the Congressional report. It would be cool if a bunch of retired tax preparers could look over the various returns to find significant deductions. The NPR article notes that one person was in charge of the Trump audit and those returns would be quite overwhelming for one person.

Most people don't even know what they are looking at. This Tax Return nonsense is just leftists collectively being a dog that's chasing a car.

They've only been told to be outraged about them, but they don't actually know why they are outraged. And just like a dog with a car...now that the car has been caught, the dog has literally no idea what to do with it, and will simply move on to the next call for outrage outrage. This has also recently happened with the J6 subpoenas.

The lefties are basically sitting in a virtual McDonald's having NothingBurgers thrown at them to keep their insanity in check....or "BlueAnon" for the woke crowd.

reply

Meanwhile, the DOJ claim they have enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden (never a government employee) with tax fraud. The collective right is up in arms.

tRump was required to be audited just like every other president since Nixon. He refused to allow the audit, so obviously there are many things he's trying to hide, especially that he's a poor businessman and that shady foreign sources are keeping him afloat.

reply

What does this sophistry have anything to do with Tax Returns? Do you get a cash prize for being outraged at the Tax Laws created by congress?

Still don't understand the implications here.

reply

This tax return “nonsense” is about Trump getting caught in lie # 17,569.
He lied about being audited for four years and he lied about eventually releasing them like every other President did

reply

Ok, do you get some sort of cash reward for catching Trump in a lie?? (something everyone does on a daily basis lmao.)

Do you get a 15-minute TV spot for your dedication to hating a man you've never met?

You're a dog chasing a car.
🚗🏎🚙🚓.........🐕‍🦺🐩🐕

reply

And what are you?

A lapdog for a con man?

reply

This is your response? 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Go play with your car, Rover.

reply

Trump's tax returns are certainly not nonsensical nothingburgers. The forty page report was prepared by professionals and it is corroborated by the actual tax returns. It's certainly a heavy lift but citizens can read the forty page Congressional report. There is a special prosecutor who is handling the J6 case so there might be future developments. A lot of the right-wing wackos were found guilty for various January 6th shenanigans BUT they need to get the firebrand who made it happen.

So what will change in our daily lives? Nothing. Again....dog catching a car.

What does this even have to do with a tax return? Literally nothing. You're just being told to be outraged without knowing why lol.

reply

You're literally being told by tRump that it's a nothingburger. Just like he tells you not to be outraged by him stealing classified documents, attempting government coups, or trying to blackmail foreign heads of state to come up with fake stories about his political opponents.

reply

LOL, you sound like a lunatic.

The US government created the tax laws. Don't get mad when people you're deranged by, exploit them.

Did you know if you make a $500 donation to anything, you can make an $11k deduction on that donation? Totally legal, and I make sure I donate at least $500 worth of goods to get that $11k. I also take advantage of several other deductions at my disposal because of the shitty tax laws...does this mean I pay significantly less taxes than my neighbors? Could be, I don't know my neighbors...but I tend to be the "Jones" they keep up with, so probably.

Does this make me a criminal? No it fucking it doesn't.

reply

I can't predict the future but the release of the tax returns might motivate Congress to pass laws that strengthen the emoluments clause and require Presidents to release their tax returns. Every President since Nixon not named Trump has released his tax returns to the public. I personally believe that every President should disclose their tax returns since they have a significant amount of power that often goes unchecked by the other branches of government. Nobody told me to believe that. Those are my own beliefs.

The Supreme Court dismissed all the emoluments clause cases against Trump so Congress is supposed to come up with emoluments legislation. I'm confident that most voters would not pick a candidate who could be easily bribed by a foreign nation. Biden and Trump are both crooks and liars so voters had to choose the lesser of two evils.

I only mentioned January 6th because YOU brought up January 6th when you introduced the wacky car and dog analogy.

Biden divested himself while he was a public servant. That's how it's supposed to work.

Meanwhile, tRump while POTUS, paid more in taxes to China than to the USA. He continued doing business with China and kept secret Chinese bank accounts. It's far from a "nothingburger." MAGAts would go insane if any Democratic president did something like this.

reply

how do you go from $400,000 to $11 million in less than a year? obviously something sinister is going on.

how much did Trump pay in taxes to China?
what business did Trump do China?
please provide proof of secret bank accounts.

reply

"Biden divested himself while he was a public servant"

I might be wrong, but I thought I read years ago that when someone liquidates assets because they hold public office, any gains are not taxable. Now, I don't think there is a special 1040 that has a box to check for that... Biden and everyone else in office probably prepares a 1040 and then submits some request to the IRS Commissioner...

reply

The tax returns of Supreme Court Justice should be public.
Labor leaders? Only if those of corporate CEOs are also released

Bernie Sanders
@SenSanders
When it comes to tax avoidance, Trump is not alone.

Federal income taxes paid in 2020:

Nike: $0
FedEx: $0
HP: $0
Salesforce: $0
Dish Network: $0
Charter Communications: $0
Duke Energy: $0

Yes. Dr. King was right. We have socialism for the rich, rugged capitalism for the rest.
