The two things are typically sexes (chromosomal male and female) but can also refer to two types of sex organs or in some cases two genders of any kind.
Genders are identities that are created by a society. Some societies support only two, other societies support more. If "bisexual" means only two genders exist, then pansexual wouldn't be a word.
Its like letting crazy people think they are right.
Sadly most of those people are the way they are is because of trauma.
They have been traumatized through some sort of abuse and their brains are not working normally.

In 2009, Dr. Warren Throckmorton, a psychologist at the Christian Grove City College, noted in an analysis that “the research on sexual abuse among GLBT populations is often misused to make inferences about causation [of homosexuality].”
