In President Harry's Truman's remarks in Syracuse, New York on October 10, 1952, he said this:

Socialism is a scare word they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years.

Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called farm price supports.

Socialism is what they called bank deposit insurance.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

When the Republican candidate inscribes the slogan "Down With Socialism" on the banner of his "great crusade," that is really not what he means at all.

What he really means is "Down with Progress--down with Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal," and "down with Harry Truman's fair Deal." That's all he means.

Republicans and conservatives had no choice but to accept the stimulus checks since they were forced to stay home, preventing them from making income despite having bills to pay and food to buy. As soon as people were allowed to go back to work, conservatives were the first to go. Gaslighting conservatives after backing them into a corner is an invalid argument.

And you seem to be confusing socialism with taxes.

I didn't choose to be on lockdown for months, especially when we were told it would only take a couple weeks; I didn't choose to over-react to a virus long after we found out it wasn't even that bad; and if anything, the stimulus checks were something you owed us for having to go through your antics for so long. You should be grateful that the money was all we took, since your lockdown game did more harm than the virus ever did.
If you're aren't going to let us make our own money, then you're going to give us the money we missed out on. Afterwards, if you're just going to drag out the lockdowns, then we'll go back to work ourselves.

You can take your socialism and shove it, and the next time you and you rich buddies pull this kind of stunt, you'll find that all the money you own won't be enough to keep us quiet. Consider that a friendly warning 😉
