Will a movie like this work in 2023?

I might not even catch this on streaming! I get the feeling this is aimed for the Chinese market.

But the Chinese are turning away from American films these days.

This isn't really just an american film. Lots of Chinese studio involvement.

Maybe it will prevent our stupid fucking president from starting a war with them.

The Piranha movies had better looking party girls in it.

A big budget monster movie? Probably. The last one made a good profit despite everyone expecting a flop.

I'm in. The first one was a fun turn off the brain popcorn flick - exactly what it needed to be. I won't see it in the theater, but certainly will rent it or catch it when it's free on streaming.

Personally I’m a bit lackluster regarding a this summer releases. I think Mission is the only one I will see wide.

I see Meg 1 made good coin. Let’s hope part 2 enda in Black,

This is the kind of movie that tends to do well globally. It's a simple story. People from any culture can appreciate the visual effects and a story about a giant shark on a rampage.

I'd be surprised if it didn't do better than the first movie.

reply

Yeah the first one was a sleeper hit after everyone thought it'd flop.

reply

Yea it's gonna do well because it's about a shark that's not supposed to exist because it's too big!

reply

Well, after seeing some headlines today now the embargo is lifted...hard to say now...

I marked on my iPhone calendar and set an alarm to watch Thu premiere 1st show
