so, is this fixing anything?

Is this movie changing the world now?

Is everyone seeing the error of our ways and cleaning of the all that sexual advertising we pay for, not allowing children access to soft core pornographic music videos, restricting access of younger kids to the internet, TV, movies, music, facebook, instagram whore influencers?

Is all that getting fixed thanks to this movie's "message"?

Because... that is the goal, right? How's that working out now? Much success?

The was THE ENTIRE PURPOSE of this movie. Is it working?

reply

it created awareness of the topic, that's the most a movie can do. and for small french indie flick it's pretty amazing, i would say.

reply

you mean people were not even aware of this completely obvious issue that has gone unchecked for a few decades now? Wow. how far in the sand is everyone's heads that they need a movie to bring it up? I was aware of this issue in high school back in the 80s. it was glaringly apparent.

is everyone really that clueless and dumb these days? maybe there is something to the theory of chemtrails making everyone dumber?

I'm not seeing any social progress as a result of this film. Sort of the exact opposite.

reply

that can be said of any topic and any film that tries to do to a social commentary. if you think such films are irrelevant because they change nothing, ok, nobody forces you to watch them. stick to your mindless hollywood entertainment bullshit then.

reply

Next thing these perverts are gonna justify as important social commentary is gonna be softcore paedophilia then hardcore paedophilia. And then justify it as bringing awareness to this issue of child exploitation. Raising awareness is just a ruse to hide behind. Hey Junkie, shove your good taste in movies where the sun don't shine!

reply

nope, because it is defined by laws what is allowed to be shown in a movie and what not. actual sex scenes involving children are ciminal in probably any western country. laws may change from time to time, but the trend goes towards more restriction and protection of minors. some teen sex comedies that were completely acceptable in the 70s, wouldn't be possible today due to adjusted laws.

reply

You're basically enabling more twerking audition tapes to be made by paedos who use social awareness to hide their true agenda: exploiting children. But since you have no morals, you don't give a fig. Like I said: You don't torture animals to criticize torture. Try to wriggle out of it. You can't.

reply

how is a fact about the law situation related to my personal morals? how am i enabling what tapes?!
next time better read a comment before you reply with some unrelated statements (including insults and accusations)?

reply

It's not about the law. It's about you being fine with perverts making twerking audition tapes.

reply

troll on. if you're not able to read then i can't help you.
welcome to my ignore list...

I think the question really should be the other way around ...If it was not for the fact that we genuinely expose children to an hyper sexual view of women every freaking day from what we allow them to watch on TV ,what we buy them, social media and pageantry, this movie would have never been made in the first place as it would have had no reason to exist. If these social problems are so obvious that no films should bother talking about them, why is it that these issues are still going on? Why our TV is full of little girls dressed like adults and we allow little girl to be judged on how they look in bikinis by grown men and women? ..Why are these questions not asked more often? And why when we even bring that up the answers we get are always "Well that does not excuse that scene in the film"? I am not defending the scene in that film, I am just questioning why so many people are dead set on ignoring the bigger picture. Seriously I had an issue with the crap we expose our children to for years and people seemed to be uninterested in even addressing the situation and now suddenly a film depict a fictional scene that is honestly nothing new, something that has been going on right in front of our eyes for years and people loose their shit but just at the film and nothing else... It is like if a person is standing there and on the left of that person there is a girl being raped screaming for help and on the right of that person there is a television playing one of these many horror films that depict the rape of a girl and the person screams and shout about how the film is vile and disgusting while ignoring the actual girl being rapped on the left side. Sound stupid? Yeah it sure does and that is basically what is going on here!

reply

These issues are still going on because videos that objectify women are still out there, constantly pushed on us, and if anyone complains about them then they are accused of being a prude, sometimes by the women performing in the videos.

When the culture accepts something, then everyone is exposed to it whether we like it or not. That is why it makes parents so angry when some new cultural downslide is forced upon us. And look how many people are claiming that they are nobly trying to fix things...by forcing inappropriate images into the cultural lexicon.

yes... yes... oh GOD yes...

I firmly believe people can't allow themselves to understand fairly simple facts like these not because they're stupid, but because they're too mentally weak or afraid to challenge the status quo, which may threaten their social status. That's the main benefit of being an NPC: you'll never be alone.

I also firmly believe there are a surprising amount of people who are just closeted horrible sadistic assholes. They enjoy the suffering this pushing of the Overton Window causes, even get off on it. A lot of it is that the harm will be done mostly to people lower on the social totem pole: powerless little girls already in poor and abusive environments. And a salient trait of a basic bitch asshole is an incapacity to respect anything except power.

The only message I took from this movie is France is still a bunch of weirdos.

reply

That is really bigoted to say this. There are American films that depict children having sex (Kids, 1996) should we all generalize things and call all American Weirdos as well ?! This is filmmakers action, an entire country did not sign up on the script lol

reply

The problem is the movie didn't show that's what its purpose was. The movie didn't show how those things were wrong. The camera tried to normalize it by making it look like every other sexualized music video.

reply

not really. the camera mainly takes the perspective of the girls, how they see each other and how they want to present themselves in social media (by filming each other with smartphones etc.). this reflects the theme of the film: the search for identity, the main character being torn between two cultures, the orthodox religious culture of her ethnic background and the western culture which is characterized by sexualized women that serve as false role models. the negative impact of the latter was clearly shown in the end of the film, with the main character running away crying from the dance contest and finding peace again when she did a typical child thing - skipping rope. she managed to overcome both extreme cultures and found a middle ground where she could be a child again.
but hey, if you only saw a sexualized music video, maybe that tells more about you than it tells about the film.

reply

"the negative impact of the latter was clearly shown in the end of the film, with the main character running away crying from the dance contest and finding peace again when she did a typical child thing - skipping rope."

You're making the "loss of innocence" argument but this goes beyond that. If she was working at a sneaker factory 10 hours a day, or if she was in the Israeli army training to be a sniper, then nobody has a problem with it. Because the sneaker factory itself would reveal how it takes away from her life, or the Israeli army would show how it removes her innocence. The twerk dancing practice doesn't show anything negative being done to those girls. The camera normalizes it just as it normalizes the audience that is watching the competition. Even Little Miss Sunshine, a screwball comedy, knew how to do it correctly.

reply

a girl crying from the trauma when she realized what she has done to herself isn't negative for you? are a sadist?
also, a shocked and embarrassed audience is shown in the contest scene. the camera doesn't "normalize" anything.

reply

All this movie has changed is that the pedo community now has some new fapping material that they won't go to prison for possessing.

reply

since you seem to be an expert on the pedo community, can you explain why pedos would be specifically attracted to children that dress and dance like adult women?

reply

Since you're defending the movie so strongly, perhaps you know more about this matter than I do.

reply

i can only guess, but you were the one who brought that up, so where's your answer to my question?

reply

I certainly don't owe you one, and it seems fairly obvious to anyone who is not being deliberately obtuse. The little girls in the film were made to do the dance called "twerking" by the filmmakers. Twerking is a highly sexualized dance simulating sexual movements. Pedos want to have sex with little girls. Therefore, those scenes would be titillating to them.

reply

saying pedos are specifically attracted to twerking children is like saying heterosexual men are specifically attracted to bearded women.
pedos are into children, so any visual signs of maturity are rather turning them off, by definition. but hey, if cuties is the holy grail of "child erotica" for you, then that's your opinion. i don't judge man!

reply

You're a very strange person. It's obvious to anyone that you have a deep personal investment in this movie.

reply

i'm not even a fan of the film, but i do have sympathies for underdogs. and if people act like bullies and unfairly attack a small one (as you do with this small french flick, as opposed to big hollywood movies), i get trigger-happy! ;)

reply

It sure opened my eyes to the Q-Anon situation, that's for sure. Of course, it's just another variation of pizza-gate really. What nonsense.

reply

Well, I can only speak for me, but since watching the movie at least I haven't entered any Twerking Competitions. So I guess it worked!
