England will win the World Cup 2022

They did a great Euro, and they are clearly a team that is improving. Semifinal in 2018,final in 2021...and victory in 2022! Even France lost the Euro final at home in 2016,but then they won the World Cup in 2018! So dont be sad,England fans! You have a lot of good young players like Sancho,Foden,Saka, that will do even better in the next few years! So England will do great!
Of course also Italy will be one of the favourites in 2022. They will probably lose Chiellini but they have Donnaruma and Chiesa that will keep improving, and also other young players that werent in these Euros like Zaniolo and Kean. But i think England can really win in 2022!

Will this World Cup also be played in England with other teams travelling thousands of kms?
If that is not happening and if Sterling doesn't practice more his dives, I'm pretty sure England will not even reach the final 8.
But sure, start singing your "It's Coming Home" once again.

reply

England and France have the better teams in all Europe.

reply

France, yes.
England, I disagree. But I think they can be placed in the top 10, yes.

reply

Massive England fan here.

To be honest I'm glad we lost last night. Sterling's cheat dive against Denmark in the semi final was utterly humiliating for proud English fans of real football and playing it the right way. If we'd sneaked that final, the cheating in the semi would forever have been brought up, sullying the achievement.

So perhaps it's for the best. As for the World Cup, no chance if Southgate plays as defensive a team as that.

reply

Being defensive is good,Italy did it too.

Of course you need to be tactically smart and be able to nullify the opposition but not at the expense of not really having any attacking threat. Truth is the Italian equaliser was coming for a long, long time.

The only time England looked like they matched the Italians (after the first five minutes of course!) was in extra time!

I'm just watching a Euro 96 documentary - Sure this team went one step further but the '96 team would have easily beaten Southgate's side...

reply

As an England fan you were glad we lost? So you are not an England fan then. As no fan of their respected country would actively want them to lose. So I call bull on that.

Sterling didn't dive. His knee and hip were checked by 2 seperate defenders. Why was it humiliating? Did no one receive soft penalties before this one, you are a very strange person.

We didn't cheat. Nothing Sterling did was cheating. 2 defenders made contact with him and he went down. Ref said it was a penalty and VAR agreed so no cheating.

The only time England looked like they matched the Italians (after the first five minutes of course!) was in extra time!

So you didn't watch any of the game then? We dominated the first half up until about the 35th min when Italy started coming into the game which would have been inevitable at some point. The 2nd half they started to turn the screw and we needed to do a lot more defending but after about 70th min it started to even out and yes in extra time we were the better team.

Italy had 6 shots on target. 3 were straight at the keeper and 2 Pickford saved. The goal itself was a calamity of errors and very fortunate for the Italians. Not only should it have been headed away twice but then pinballs and rebounds off the inside of the post behind Pickford to the only Italian stood in the box.

Italy certainly had more of the ball but they really didn't make much of it. Nearly every shot was high and wide or straight at the keeper.

I will finish as I started. No England fan would have wanted us to lose.

Look at the stats:-

We had 35% possession in the first half. How could we possibly have "dominated the first half up until about the 35th min"? 😂 Sorry but that's just rose tinted garbage.

I discussed the Sterling situation enough with you the other day. A mass of top figures - Mourinho, Wehner, etc - all said he dived but no because your logic was there was contact. Yeah, there was contact but as he was throwing himself down! There's literally no point in discussing that any further.

Sterling is a cheat and additionally he did nothing in the final. I'd rather he was nowhere near the side.

reply

Only if Southgate plays a more positive style.

Doubt he will.

reply

Fuck you! The can suck it big time like they sucked it yesterday.
They are a horrible team, could only get there with the help of the refs and the home advantage.
And you too BigMom, suck it!

reply

No this was their only chance to win a major tournament and they blew it

reply

No this was their only chance

I didn't realise tournaments were stopping after this one

reply

They didn't stop, but if they don't even win with all these advantages, it's hard to imagine how they ever will.
