Mandalorian Series: Rebirth of Star Wars or Much Ado About Nothing?

or Too Early To Say?

Rebirth after the sequel trilogy , this is the best star wars content since ROTJ

I'm just glad you said since Jedi and aren't pretending the prequels are good like these weirdo Lucas loyalists.

The Prequels are poorly made, i cant bear to watch Hayden Christensen play the role of Anakin "the best star fighter pilot in the galaxy...and a cunning warrior" when Obi Wan said these words in A New Hope i expect Anakin to be this epic character, instead we got some whiny kid that cant act for shit, and lets not go there with Jar Jar.

It's like Lucas didn't know his own work - the OT. Bad acting, effects, and lightsaber fights (TPM aside), but the inconsistencies are just inexcusable. The one you mentioned, Obi Wan clearly not knowing who R2 or 3P0 were, Qui Gon being his master...

Rebirth? Come on, man. The Force Awakens has near-universal praise from both fans and critics alike. 86% and 92% respectively. Hell, The Rise of Skywalker has an 86% from the fans. Enough with this revisionist history.

Mando is a good show, but not great. There isn't much of an overall storyline - and that's ok, people forget that's an actual style/technique - and that's perfectly fine. It's entertaining, fun, and surprisingly different than I expected. I don't think it's as dark as the trailers indicated - they certainly hid Baby Yoda - and that's ok. They snuck in classic Star Wars humor and the cute factor the franchise is known for. And it works. It's dark (for Star Wars), but not overly serious or trying too hard because of the underground/criminal aspects of it. It's very appropriate for the franchise.

The RottenTomatoes score is completely baked. Last years, that site has has become a joke when it comes to scores.

Had.

The Force Awakens was highly praised when it was released, that's true. But it has aged really bad. Go to iMDB, sort the reviews by date and check the last ones. The majority of reviews are negative.

The movie was highly praised until people realized that there wasn't really a story there, but random mystery box ideas, and that the best parts of the movie were the ones that were copypasted from the original movie.

Rotten Tomatoes doesn't count, but recent revisionist history ones by fans do. LOL, get out of here.

Oh, and it has a 7.9 at IMDB.

It's good and it's entertaining.

Some Clone Wars fan service in the new episode and an old Jedi jumping straight into action the second they were on screen were enough for some to start using it as an excuse to start expressing all their sequel trilogy butthurt all over again.

It's worthy of everything else that's been made since Disney bought LFL.

Seems like a rebirth. I have faith in the Filoni. And Favreau too. SW fans were yelling at the execs to hire him even before Abrams. But Kathleen Kennedy had to do her own thing. So now it's looking like all the pieces are together. Star Wars has its own Kevin Feige.

Kinda sucks, or maybe funny, that WB can't get a Feige for their DC brand, and Fox couldn't get a Feige for their Marvel movies, but here Disney gets two Feige's.

reply

Filoni does some stupid shit. I like this show plenty, but his INSISTENCE on shoving Clone Wars characters is annoying and just creates issues. Why did Ahsoka never come out of hiding? Why is there no evidence Vader had an apprentice in the movies? Why not just take The Child to Luke? This kinda stuff could be avoided if Filoni wasn't so fucking stubborn about his shows.

reply

I mean, it's a character he created along with George Lucas.
There's no need for Ahsoka to come out of hiding when Yoda did the same thing. Obi-Wan only got back in because of Leia's message. The Empire won. After the Empire's defeat, it looks like Ahsoka was doing her part taking out the scraps.
What apprentice did we need to see between Yavin and Endor when Vader and the Emperor were both alive?
We have no idea where Luke is during this time or what he's up to. Why should Ahsoka or anyone else in the Outer Rim know any better? The Outer Rim territories are not as clued in to what exactly went down between the rebels and the Empire. They only get the after effects that reach out that far.

reply

Just watched the whole thing today, after just getting Disney+, and I vote "Rebirth"!

It's really terrific. Not quite "Empire"-level great, but so clever, exciting, and fun! It's very "Star Wars", but with a gritty edge successfully added on.

reply

Agreed, rebirth.

Aside from Rogue One, and maybe Solo it's the only good Star Wars since the OT.
And it's not just good, it's Excellent.

reply

Yeah, those two are the best things to come out of the Star Wars revivial, unless "Rebels" is awesome or something. That's next on the agenda.

Funny that the most successful new projects are both darker and grittier than the main series, I really hope the Disney powers that be decide this is the way to take the franchise from now on. Yes, it works for both projects, the gritty tone is appropriate for both stories and the dubious characters work in that context, but the main thrust of Star Wars always needs to be about the power of the Light Side.
