It's slow and unfunny. And the Asian chick is just for China (although she acts fine).
Karen Gillan looks beautiful but everyone feels somehow underused.
Overall: quick cash grab and a real disappointment.
Just got back from the theater. It was okay.
Not sure I'd call it a "quick cash grab"--it's better than that--but it lacks something that the first film had. Part of that is the freshness of a new concept, but I feel there was something else missing too.
The first film I'd probably give a 7.5, while I'd say this is more of a 6.5.
You're right about Karen Gillan though. She is unbelievably good looking in these films. I have to give her credit for getting into such amazing shape.

shareThis is a perfect description. Kids will love it, but it's lacking the fun and creativity of the first.
Good: Gillan is up for it and looks great. Kevin Hart nails it as an old Danny Glover and is IMO the best part of the movie.
Bad: They gave nobody anything to do. You have Jack Black, who was amazing in the first one, almost no good lines. I barely remembered him being in it. The Rock wasn't nearly as dynamic as he was in the original. There was so much you could do with old men suddenly thrust into young bodies and they really didn't explore that enough.
All in all, it just felt uninspired and a cash-in on the success of the first one.
I enjoyed it enough and my kid liked it a lot, but I don't think I'd watch it again.
But the key here is, "KIDS WILL LOVE IT" will your KID watch it again. You are old and forgotten, your kid is the future. It's how the world works, us older people have no say. The young drive the Hollywood fuel. We just say stay off my lawn and let me have a good bowel movement the next day.

The Asian chick is NOT for China. She's American and some rapper. You'll know it's a praise/pro-China movie if it shows Chinese investor logos in the beginning of the movie which you'll know will be mostly a bland movie more or less. The most notorious is Independence Day 2.

They really shoehorned in an Asian character just to pander to the Chinese market? Good god. Well, at least the original was an exceptionally good comedy.
shareXXX part 2 wasn't all that great. They did better with the third movie and it even might get a fourth. The same with Jumanji.
