Why doesn't CBS make this an hour long show?
Once you deduct the ads, an episode's running time is only about 18 minutes now. Why not double it to 36 to at least have enough time to decently tell a story?

shareNah, sitcoms are generally 30 minutes. If they try and make it too deep it will plod.
"Seinfeld" and "Big Bang Theory" can't fill an hour, what makes you think "Young Sheldon" can?
How do we know they can't? They never tried. Besides, did you read? It's not an hour. It would only be 36 minutes. That's closer to the 30 minutes they had back in the Honeymooners days than it is to an hour.
Also, just remembered that Seinfeld had some two-part episodes. On the DVDs you can watch these as single episodes. They hold up fine in that length.
Ever heard about this thing called "pace"?
shareNetworks don’t produce hour long “sitcoms.” Though there are hour-long dramedies like Monk and Psych.
shareSitcoms are best suited to half hour viewing.
shareProbably because that's all most viewers can handle is 18 minutes of this which is really milking the Big Bang Theory for everything it's worth now isn't it?? Gee?? Will Penny or Leonard get their own spinoff based on when they were kids??
shareDisagree. The show is funny in its own right for huge numbers of people, even if not your personal cuppa tea.
shareI don't think it could hold an audience for an hour.
