It is like mandatory for every movie now, what gives? What's the agenda here?

It could be because Hollywood finally got over themselves and are probably acknowledging that they started the entire thing. They were guilty of not casting enough people of color in their films to begin with.
I think it's funny when people complain that it's some sort of abnormality. I've mentioned this before that I live in a pretty conservative part of Canada and I know so many interracial couples. My own marriage was. Not just black and white either. I know we laughed when the movie Prom Night in Mississippi came out, as if we were to segregate our proms by "colour" we would have had to have about 20 different dances.
When my partner's parents immigrated here from South Africa they really noticed it and pointed it out. I guess it's just what you are used to. I don't notice it in movies because it's so normal here.

shareThat's the issue - they see it as *mandatory*. From time-to-time, you come across inter-racial couples, and it would be perfectly fine to have it appear in movies from time-to-time. However, Hollywood feels they have to shoehorn forced diversity into every movie and it detracts from the movie itself.

shareI understand the dilemna the studios are in. On the one side (leftist activists), they get pressure to cast diversely, on the side (average moviegoers), they get pressure to have the cast reflect reality instead of a forced rainbow coalition. The proverbial rock and a hard place and it is just one of the issues killing the industry as average moviegoers buy tickets. Far left activists typically do not, at least not in numbers to keep the industry afloat.
