No thanks. I’ll skip it. The 500 other posts (give or take) you wrote criticizing and deconstructing every single detail about this film made it clear enough what you thought was wrong with it. It’s awful, a mess, hurts my beliefs, insulted my supposed intelligence... yadda yadda ya.

The film triggered you that much, huh? Good. Earning universal acclaim, it is.
Stop! Shape of Water time!

Never apologize to SJW Trolls! Most people on this board don't like it, Del Toro must have lost his mind.

Yes, I don't get why this film is being praised so greatly, and how it was even nominated. Bizarre

If this movie didn’t have a liberal agenda driven social commentary attached to it, it wouldn’t of won best picture and been ignored like so many fantasy films before it.

I’m incredibly liberal, and still hated this movie. Other than Sally Hawkins’s performance, I thought that every aspect of it was a total failure. How this just won Best Picture is completely beyond my ability to comprehend.

I agree. I am a GAY man who saw this with my date, and we kept checking our watches, wondering when this piece of contrived CORN was going to end. Even the talented Richard Jenkins had nothing more than a cliché-ridden character
to play with.

Love Sally Hawkins, but this is the most EMBARRASSING "Best Picture" win in YEARS.

Not trying to trump (ew) anyone, but I am liberal, I am gay, AND I am Mexican American. I also didn't think this was award material. The only thing I liked was the photography, but other than that, it was kinda boring.

Just like they now look back and say that Crash was a mistake. Brokeback Mountain was robbed. Even Jack Nicholson couldn't believe it when he opened the envelope.

reply

Yep, I haven't seen this yet (does look well photographed) and just from the shit I've read and what it's about it's gonna probably surpass Crash. That movie sucked.

Also, this was by far the worst year of Movies I can ever remember and yet, we had 9 nominees? In the good years it was maybe 5-6 right? Phantom Thread probably should have won...but I haven't seen or heard of most of the nominees.

reply

Phantom Thread or Call Me By Your Name should have won. Get Out was good, but shouldn't have been nominated.

Liberal here, and I couldn't wait for this movie to end. Awful for the most part, except for Sally Hawkins.
