Star Trek's "second golden age"

The Kurtzman apologists say the current era of Star Trek under Kurtzman is "Star Trek's second golden age". For those keeping track, here's how all his "successful" shows are doing:

Star Trek's "First Golden Age"
TNG - 178 episodes, then concluded after 7 seasons
DS9 - 176 episodes, then concluded after 7 seasons
VOY - 172 episodes, then concluded after 7 seasons
ENT - 98 episodes, then cancelled
4 MOVIES

Star Trek's "Second Golden Age"
STD - 58 episodes, then cancelled
STP - 30 episodes, only the last season got good reviews, then concluded after 3 seasons
SNW - 20 episodes, still airing
LD - 50 episodes, then cancelled
PRO - 20 episodes, then renewed for season 2, THEN Paramount abruptly cancelled it anyway.
Finally ended up moved to Netflix.
0 MOVIES (unless you count the two J.J. Abrams movies that Kurtzman co-wrote, the latter of which got scathing reviews from fans)

reply

why would you not count the films?

reply

You only get one golden age. That's how it works. This is just an age. And you don't get to name it until it's over.

reply

We're calling it the "Woke Star Trek Era" or "The Era of Hell for Star Trek" (using the reference from a Voyager 2-part episode called "The Year of Hell.")

reply

perhaps it's the age of unveiling
I had no idea the tng cast was this woke - seen their comicon meetups and they seemed normal, but now I seriously wonder if they are all gonna go under the knife and get a bottom surgery.

reply

Star Trek's only golden age was from 1966 to 1994. That's it.

reply

Wow, I knew Kurtzman and his followers were stupid, but I didn't know they were delusional too.

reply

STD/STP/LD/PRO are NOT official abbreviations. It just proves how pathetic and biased you trolls are!
Nobody talks about Golden Ages. It's Original, Classic, and Modern.
Number of episodes is a stupid metric. Number of seasons is better.

Quality over Quantity. Higher cost per episode works best with short seasons.
TOS had the most episodes per season, and also the highest proportion of Absolute Crap.

Kurtzman is much better than hack Roddenberry as showrunner and producer.
Roddenberry's dogma like "no crew conflict" and "utopian future" is for children, not modern audiences.
He was a terrible writer too and directors often ignored his script revisions after TOS.

reply

And yet they love to steal/copy/rip off episodes from the older series...

reply

Shut up, NEWB.

Star Trek Discovery shills/Kurtzman apologists have been using the phrase "Star Trek's second golden age" to describe the Kurtzman era all over social media for a while now, gloating how "successful" it is because of all the shows that Paramount+ gave him so they'd have more content on their failed streaming service. I guess you missed it. Here's some examples of the "second golden age" propaganda:
