How Do White People Feel About This Movie?

I've read around on social media that a lot of white people felt Get Out was "anti-white" or "racist against white people." I feel like the only way you could be truly offended by this movie is if you were an actual racist, as this movie holds a fun-house mirror up to racists showing a distorted, disturbing version of what you own hatred could turn into.

I can't imagine a non-racist feeling targeted by this movie, as it's just that, a movie (thank God, although American slavery did actually happen). I'm curious how white people felt watching this? If you felt it was racist to have white villains, why so?

European white here. Not racist at all. I took on Chris's perspective immediately like Peele wants you to - Daniel Kaluuya was so good imo because he made it easy to live inside him, for us to see and experience his world. I never wanted someone to die so much as I did every white person in that film, as well as grandma and grandpa - I pretty much was upset with the whole damned lot of em and would have had zero pity. ZERO.

Anti-White? This reminds me of the old 1930s classics with blacks being scared by ghosts..I wonder if that is how the term for blacks "Spooks"(the put down) came, since the term spooks also describes ghosts.

I am white..I assume white means whitebread and conservative, well I am, but I know it's a movie..I love racial black humor but also know this film, like those old films from a much different time, is jeant meant to be funny.

It's a film about ghosts. There's African-Americans in it. THEY're SCARED of ghosts....I liked the girlfriend (Alison Williams from TV's "Girls") and the mother (Catherine Keener from "The Soloist" ,"Where the Wild things Are" & "The 41-year old Virigin").But I HATED the OTHER whites..

Of course hatred against white people excludes liberals such as the Clintons, and extends to African-Americans such as Colin Powell who are in the military..;) Very inventive movie anyway.

I'm white. I didn't find this movie uncomfortable or racist anymore than I would find "The Hills have Eyes" or any other film that depicts a crazy family. Chris was a good character, not hateful toward white people (clearly he loved his girlfriend) and the film didn't make any kind of statement that "all white people are like this." It was a crazy cult.

I enjoyed the movie.

People who think this movie is anti-white are stupid. The roles could be reversed and it wouldn't become anti-black. The film had a setting and utilized it. It wouldn't matter anyways, because practically everything about this film, regarding its acting, direction, pacing, and screenplay, is fantastic.

I thought it was terrific, although I think it may have a bit to do with growing up with people of different races. I went to public school where I met a lot of black people and by the time I learned racism of even a thing, it seemed like a foreign concept to me. I can acknowledge of course there are white people who probably did not get the same so it's probably harder for them to get passed the race issue.
