Where's Bert?

Mary Poppins isn't the same without Bert.

reply

Bert and his merry band of singing, tap-dancing chimney sweeps were keeping me up all night with their noise.
So I killed Bert and ate him. His head is still in my fridge. Do not tell a soul.

Dick Van Dyke will be in the movie but he won't be playing the same character. I think an EW article said he will have a rather small role in the film.

Lin-Manuel Miranda will likely be taking over as the new song-and-dance man.

Had Julie Andrews accepted the invitation to join this cast, I have a feeling Dick Van Dyke would have played Bert. There's no way you bring back the original Mary Poppins and not bring back Bert, even for a short scene.

Dick Van Dyke is playing the son of the banker he played in the original movie.

reply

I think you mean to say that Nackvid Keyd will be playing Mr. Dawes Jr.

reply

Lin Manuel-Miranda is perfect as his lamplighter "leerie" character, Jack.

reply

Bert and every one of his chimney sweep compatriots died in the trenches of WW1.

reply

He’s there in spirit. ;)

Dick Van Dyke’s appearance was too good for words. His screen time might’ve been limited but he more than makes up for it.

reply

He died of black lung disease, like most chimney sweeps. Good thing his protégé found another like of work!
